How many of you have loaded 40 caliber loads in 10mm brass? Any issues? I know you can do this just like loading 38 special loads in 357 cases but does it creat any problems? Wanted to load lighter target loads is reason.

You may have function issues on the low end unless you reduce the main spring power. Testing will sort this out. Thanks for help that’s bkind of information I thought was right but wanted some more insight

That must be a filthy 40S&W load, I have put will over a thousand rounds of 40S&W through my 610 and the drop a moonclips of 10mm in without issue. In a semi-auto, be prepared for cycling issues with 40 S&W level loads in a 10mm gun. Maybe yes/maybe no.
There would be no issues in a 10 mm revolver such as a S&W 610.
As a side note, shooting 20-30 40 S&W rounds in my 610 puts enough carbon in the chamber that 10mm cartridges would not chamber. Nothing that a good cleaning won’t solve.
This is the first revolver that I have experienced this in even though it is always talked at in length for shooting 38 Special in a 357 Magnum gun.

.
It is quite possible that the 40'S&W ammunition was loaded with some "dirty" powder. I'd have to look it up and see. I forget off hand what theowder may have been.
I wanted to consume the 40 S&W rounds and my son-in-law from the he UK was in town so it was an opportunity to hhave some fun and use up the 40 S&W rounds.
I normally use cases in revolvers that the revolver is chambered for. So, in the future, the M610 will only shoot 10mm cases. The 40S&W cases will be saved for my 40S&W semi-auto pistols.
here’s a idea! 10mm 300 grain going 1,000 fps, right under sonic speed.
and Suppressed too!I like it. Might not open the JHPs but should be proper penetration with a slug on thick skinned game at closer distances
that’s my favorite load man! and don’t forget a nice crimp too! I’m cycle my 95 grain 9mm load 20-30-40 times and the bullet stays in placeI load 90 to 100 gr bullets from pulled .380 rounds in my girlfriends 9mm all the time she just thinks she is getting to be a better shot. LOL
