My local gun guy knows that I will buy any new .41 magnum gun I can acquire.
I have a .41 mag marlin carbine on order, and I got a message on my machine that a friends' acusport .44 mag came in, and my .41 mag was in, just like it.
I assumed he meant that my carbine was in, and of course, me and my friend went in ASAP to examine his gun, and see what was going on.
When we arrived, he ran (He has a health condition) into the back and brought out TWO boxes from ruger.
Sure enough, he opened the .44 mag acusport bisley, and it met all expectations.
He had a special surprise in store for me.
He told me to open the other box.
I (Not knowing what to expect) slowly opened the other box, and lo and behold, inside was a .41 mag acusport bisley, hot off the presses.
The date on the spent shell baggie was 8/27
That's right, last week.
I'm all smiles, and even though money is reeeaaaaly tight right now, I will find a way to have this in my furry little paws by the end of september, or sooner.
:D :D :D
You have no idea how happy that makes me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.41 lovers chime in, and order yours today, while they're hot.

Heh. If his career in gun sales falls through, he can likely make a killing peddling crack.

"Here...take a look at this..."

:D

I can't believe that there has been very little reaction to this.
The best single action .41 mag under $500 is now being made,
the acusport bisley would be an excellent base gun for a low dollar custom .41, or as it is, bone stock, in an excellent configuration that hasn't been made yet.
It's not even on ruger's website yet, but is available.

Well you did attract my attention ......

But when I went to the Acusport web page I couldn't find any information. Maybe it's in the "dealer's only" section, but that doesn't do me any good.

I have considered converting a Blackhawk to a Bisley configuration, and might yet do it. I think you may find more interest when Acusport is more forthcoming.

The way it's going, I will have pics by the end of this week.
:p
I hope so.

I will check with my dealer this week to see if he has received any yet. I will get on his list for when they do come in. I have the .45Colt chambered model, never much cared for a .44mag, but have been waiting for Ruger to put a .41mag version on the market.

Yeah, it's about time. We tried this last year and Ruger backed out of the deal. I'm on the line for two. Had to sell a couple rifles, but I've been waiting for these for awhile. Now if Winchester would get the .41Magnum Platinum-tip ammo in the pipeline, I'll be happy for awhile. RKBA!:D

"...I can't believe that there has been very little reaction to this..." Ammo is not readily available in most places. Nor are components easy to come by. The .41 is almost as bad as the 41AE. Same bullet. No brass can be had. No ammo. Bullets few and far between, because the .41 mag is scarce.

Sunray:
I really think you are too pessimistic about the .41 Magnum.
Starline has new brass at a reasonable price and I have managed to accumulate about 1,100 cases. I bought 500 new Starline but sort of stumbled across the rest, in deals and in out-of-the way gunshops.

Bullets haven't been hard to find either. Midway USA puts them on sale now and then.

On the other hand, Ive never seen a round of .41 AE.

I wish someone would post pics of the gun mentioned at the start of this thread. I can't place it from the description.

I have a store near me that always have brass and a good supply of various bullets for .41s. Plus with the internet, shopping is much easier. Since yu are posting here you have access to all the components needed for reloading the .41.

ACP230,
Here is a pic of an Accusport SS Ruger 5.5" Bisley that the thread is about. The bottom revolver is one in .45Colt. the only difference would be caliber:

I have to agree with majic- especially with the advent of the web (thank you al gore !!) ;)
I have only been a fan of the .41 for about 2 years now, and everywhere I go I just keep an eye out for guns and ammo of this caliber. It almost never fails that in gun shops across the country I find a good selection of .41mag- my most recent was a shop in NC, and the boxes had dust on them and the original (read: CHEAP) prices on them, which the kind gun store owner honored cause he had never gone back and updated them.

When we have interests, hobbies, passions, or maybe even obsessions, it seems we always find a way to locate and track down what we want (or maybe even need)-
I sure feel I need one of those new bisleys!

'hatta

Sunray:, you can buy .41 bullets from almost every major online supplier.
Also, locally I buy them from gander mountain, as well as several local gun shops.
I get Hornady 210 XTP-hp, 100 pack for about $12.50 + shipping from midway.
Locally, they're about $16.00 per hundred.
I must admit, I do wish rainier made .41 bullets available, but I can certainly see why they don't.
I am a big fan of 10mm/.41mag , and can't just pass it up when a company makes a new model.

I've never acually seen a gun that was chambered in .41 AE.
I have seen jericho 941s, but the ones I've seen were chambered in 9mm and .40 s&w.
I've bought and fondled many .41, and don't believe the caliber will die out altogether, it will just be a enthusiast cartridge, like the 10mm.
I also got brass from starline, and have prolly 1000 empties from REM and PMC that I now use for light loads.
I got starline brass now but didn't get it until last year.
I find it interesting to note, I have fired many, many rounds of .41, and after about '96 or so, all have been reloaded.
I have been shootiing the same 1000 pieces of brass, and god knows how many times each was fired, but I have never had a case failure, ever.
.41 brass is strong.

Mine came in today. I think I'm feeling sick. * Cough * cough * can't go to work tomorrow.

The grips are lighter than usual with some nice features on the right side. They are a good fit for the frame. Workmanship is a little "rushed" as far as polishing but the frame/grip frame fit is tight.

*Man*, I need that gun.
Rushed was the impression I got too, but still .41s from any manufacturer (Except taurus) seem to have that clouds parting, angels singing feeling to them.

Off to get mine right now, should be back by noon.
I doubt I'll have pics anytime today, need to sleep sometime.
Lots to do.
I'm sure that it looks just like every other acusport.
Buried a beloved pet yesterday, must cheer myself up, and I think this will do it...

Got it.
Tired, must sleep.
Pics tomorrow.
Range report Sunday or monday.

I got the call that mine came in Wednesday 9/10, and picked it up the following day (9/11). I'm hoping to get to the range this weekend. Finish looks great and the grips actually seem to 'fit'. Chamber mouths measure out correct. While not severe by any means, I'll probably fit a Belt Mtn. cylinder base pin on it to remove a bit of 'wobble' in the cylinder - like I said, nothing severe; and I do plan to shoot it before that happens.
I have a pair of the .44 Bisley's, but opted to only order one of the .41's. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should have gone for a pair.....

Range Report:

An excellent shotgun! Decent pointability and good pattern at 20 yards. Six shots into six inches easy.

My morning was full of dangerously flattened primers on mid-range loads, bullets flying in odd directions, and the local gunsmith telling me the barrel cylinder gap varies by .002 from left to right. Also a little bit of drag on the cylinder when the loading gate is closed. QC comes through again.

Time to call Ruger...

Shot mine today.
Shot well, and is very well-mannered.
Didn't get a chance to do any formal accuracy testing, but during the sight-in process they all stayed on the plate at 25 yards, and I had to move the sights several times..
I wouldn't mind having one just like it in a blued 4 5/8" model.
Maybe next year...

Glad to see that there are still some folks who appreciate the .41.
I have been a lover and shooter of the caliber since it was first announced. I bought the first Ruger Blackhawk that I saw, Ser. No. 12XX and that was about '69 if I remember correctly. Could be wrong, give or take a year.
Use Starline brass and mostly home cast bullets in the Lyman 410429 mould which weighs out about 210 grains lubed and sized.

Talk about this new Ruger has got me thinking that I just might need another one. Also have a 4 inch S&W57 which has seen its share of shooting but I still prefer the single actions for hot loads.

Long may the .41 live. Too good to let it die.

Shot it again today.
I'm impressed with the accuracy.
I did the typical offhand modified weaver stance, and was shaky as all get out.
The average 6 shot group of the day was a 2 1/2"-3" average.
(I am still doing fine adjustments on the sights.)
Best group of the day at 25 yards was a little more than an inch, 6 shots, one flyer.
A little high and to the right.
Not too shabby for me.
I am still very impressed with it's manners, it may be the perfect SA wheelgun for me.
I may bust out the sandbags, and see how good she can shoot, once I'm happy with the sight-in.
I would already be done with it, but the range closed at 1:00 for hunter safety classes.
