.41 magnum spl

Hey gang,
I just moved and have seemed to have misplaced some of my data at the moment. I was going to try to convert some of my .41 mag brass that started splitting at the top to .41 spls. I do remember something about trimming down to I believe a .38 spl shell length and I think it was loading to a .44 mag. Is this correct? Or does someone have the correct formula?:banghead: Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thank You

As far as I know there is no "Official" 41 magnum special, but there have been some guys trimming brass down to the same length as .44 Special.

I had rather scrap the brass and buy new or once fired, I know it is hard to find. You may have Carbon build up with the shorter brass in a regular chamber, which may cause hard chambering of full length brass unless you throughly clean between firings.

Midway sells 41 special bnrass but it is super pricey. There was a feller on another site that was selling Starline made 41 special brass but he is out. I have follow John Taffin reload data and really enjoy it

Yesterday I had a cranial/ rectal inversion when I asked about about the .41 spl rounds. The info I was after was about the making of .41 rem mag spls. Sorry I was not more specific. I do suffer sometimes from crs. I guess that happens when you are older than dirt. lol. Thank you for the info that wasa posted though, it was very interesting.

That is what I was refering to, trimming down 41 mag case to the same length as .44 Special ... 1.160".

There is a guy named Bowen that converts various guns to 41 specials, don't remember his name.

Thank you both so much. Now that my head is back on my shoulders and I'm not sitting on it, I can see and think better. LOL. The info is very usefull. Since I have no wife to nag me to unpack it may a while before all my stuff is unpacked. I will play with the .41 mag spl idea some more, until then I have my 45-70's to worry about. Again Thank You
