Hi there all. I got a Gaucha-IGA 410 single shot shotgun and have a couple of questions. First the gun is marked 3" chamber. I use 3" shells for birds without problems, but I like to carry a box of slugs with me just in case, but they are 2 1/2" long. Would this be o.k. to shoot out of her as a defense round in case I encounter something, or for target? The other question is stupid in my books, but would like to know. A friend recently mentioned that a 45 lc is safe to shoot out of said gun, but I disagree as the round is a lot larger then the bore of my gun. Please tell me I'm not nuts, and that he is wrong.

Yup and not sure

Yes, the slugs will be fine. The 3" marking means you can fire 3" or 2 3/4" shells. Slugs or shot. As for the 45LC, I've heard the same thing but have never done it or personally know anyone who has.

Any shell 3" or shorter is fine to shoot. If you shoot alot of shorter shells and then go back to using 3" ones, you may have to clean the chamber really good so the 3" ones will extract.

DO NOT shoot 45LC out of a .410 unless it says so on the barrel. If you have any kind of a choke, it would be bad. Some guns do shoot both (for example TC Contender and Springfield M6 Pistol, Bond Derringer)

Thin barrel, full choke, bad news.

Be safe.
