It was an overcast rainy day and my fairweather shooting buddies mysteriously had other things to do. Skeet was a non starter but I had a new steel plate wanting to play catch with a couple of 44s.

This is my 2nd plate. The 1st one is being rewelded for a 2nd time now and I'm not sure how much longer it will last. 1500 rounds down range later I'm starting to dial in on this 629 classic. 50 yards from a hand supported rest. 10 rounds, 10 hits, 1 flyer.... I couldn't miss. Usually I'm lucky to hit 4 out of 5 but today was 44 fun day. Nothing could go wrong.

Time for a challenge! I reached for the 44 rat. A 4" model 29 that looks like a ragamuffin someone shot once and left it in a leather holster for 20 years. 5 rounds at 50 yards and 10 at 25.

If it keeps raining like it has been and all the fairweather shooters stay home I'm going to up the fun to 100 yards.

Looks like a good time. An overcast, rainy day at the range beats a sunny day at work every time to me!
