Need some help in locating a 44 Mag loading:
Does anyone know of any ammo company that loads a 240 gr. Gold Dot at about 1000 fps? The closest thing I've come up with so far is Proload's 200 gr. at about 1050 (its tactical lite loading). I just might need to start handloading the .44, to get these ballistics. Thanks.

IIRC Pro Load's Tactical Lite uses the 200 gr Gold Dot designed for the .44 Special at well over .44 Spl velocities. It's designed to perform well below 1000FPS. You might want to check with Speer to determine the low end design velocity for the 240 gr GD. Otherwise you'll be shooting an expensive JHP than doesn't have a chance of expanding. YMMV

riverdog,
That's a good point-- the 240 gr. GD might not be "tweaked" to expand at only 1000 fps. Thanks.

For the 200gr Gold Dot, I use 8.0gr Titegroup for about 1050fps.

For the 240gr Gold Dot, 10.0gr Titegroup should be around 1170fps.

These are from a 6.5" barrel.
