44 Special/44 Magnum

Please forgive my ignorance for I haven't been around these calibers before, but can you shoot 44 Special ammo through a 44 Magnum revolver?

you can but be careful if you shoot alot of specials you'll get a ring of fowling in the chamber that you need to clean before shooting full house mags or pressure could be very high.

You will need to clean your cylinder chambers well after shooting the shorter case shells, mag. cases will become difficult to chamber if you don't.

What mavracer said. I hand load, so I use full length magnum cases for all loads including lites.

If you have a .44 Mag you can shoot .44 Mag, .44 Special, and .44 Russian (good luck finding some) through it. Each is a little shorter than the predecessor.
