.44 specials sticking

Just got back from the range and had .44 spl sticking in the cylinder of my Redhawk. It was Amereican and the first cylinder wouldn't turn. I didn't see any thing, the .44 Mags had fired, turned, etc. fine. Some other cylinder fulls were stiff.
Anyone else have this happen?

If you mean Federal ammo marketed under the American Eagle name, then yes I have had that happen to me - every time I've used that ammo.

It wasn't .44 Special, it was .30 Carbine; and it wasn't a Redhawk, it was a Blackhawk. I never could figure out a reason for it, and no other brand of ammo does it. The chambers are properly sized, smooth, and very clean.

I switched to Magtech and haven't looked back.

If the cylinder wouldn't turn, odds are that the rims were not flush with the extractor or cylinder face,or the primers were high.
Check under your extractor star if it happens with all of the ammo. It might be dirty.
If it's just a few rounds,I'd bet that the brass rims are too thick (unlikely) or the primers are too high and are impeding the cylinder rotation.
Happens to me rarely with reloads,butI've never had it happen with factory ammo.

could it be the bullets are pulling out under recoil and then rubbing on the end of the barrel?

I'll put a caliper on the rims. Some worked fine. No, not recoil, it happened on the first cylinder full out of a new box. I'll check for dirt under the extractor too. Hope it is isolated, I've got about 1,000 rounds of it.
