I'm seriously considering a 442 or a 642. I know lots of people carry them in pocket holsters without a problem. I'm wondering about carrying IWB. Say, a Milt Sparks holster. Any thoughts?

Should work fine - any J-frame holster would work. However, because of the cylinder bulge, they won't be at their most comfortable IWB. Personally, I limit my 442 and 642 to either pocket-holster or shoulder-holster carry.

I have a taurus 605, which uses the same holsters. I have tried a few IWB's for it, and I keep coming back to the cheap uncle mikes. It is the most comfortable one I have tried. I don't think it will last long, but for $10, you can buy lots of them. The mister softy was good, but after awhile it dug in to the hip, even after gluing some extra leather to it, it was still not as comfy as the uncle mikes. Let me know what works out for you. I might try it as well. I've been thinking about an airweight myself. :)

I carry a J frame in a Sparks VMII... I don't know it's there until I don't put it on and it feels funny because it's not there..

The holster is bigger than the gun, thus it spreads the weight and the "cylinder bulge over such an area that you are not even conscious of it's presence until it is gone.

Of course with a Sparks, it will last a lifetime.

I carry in a Sparks PCH-R pocket holster. You'd be surprised how comfortable and concealing it actually is. If I were to opt to carry IWB, I'd get a VM2 for it.

honestly, I pretty much only carry my j-frames in pocket or ankle holster. If I'm going to a belt holster, I can just s esily carry something bigger/more effective, if you know what I mean

I like the Kramer Pocket holster. Got mine from Dillon Precision years ago, they
had them discounted a bit. Occasionaly use a Galco belt holster when I want light
weight under a jacket. There are probably pocket holsters as good, or better,
than the Kramer now days. Wasn't many choices fifteen years ago.

Safariland Stuffer, from Cops Plus...My 642 disappears and it costs like 10.00...reholstering sucks however as it will immediately collapse...reholstering a j frame usually isn't a big deal however cuz if you drew, it you did for a reason.
