I handled a newly arrived .45-70 BFR with a 5.5" barrel today at the LGS- much handier than the 7.5" version. The 5.5" is not listed on the MR website. Anybody else seen one of these?
The .45-70 is already not a good revolver round, if I were gonna go with a big-bore 5.5"gun, I'd go with a .500 s&w or better yet a .475 linebaugh/.500JRH. The .45-70 just has too much case capacity and needs powder that is too slow to really be effective in a short barrel, especially since it operates at relatively low pressure.
