Ive been loading 230 gr lrn in 45acp and have just started loading 200gr lswc's
Using the same powder and load the 200 is shooting low about 2",very nice groups but low.Im asumming its do to the lighter bullet exiting the barrel faster than the heavier bullet. So in theory if I drop the velocity I should raise the poi. This in a fixed sight 5" 1911. does this seam the right direction to go.
Im new to loading 45 acp,so any imput is welcome.
Thanks,Bob.

In theory, you are correct; and in my experience loading .45acp and other handgun calibers, you are correct.

However, you may find it hard to find a load that's slow enough to give your 200 lswc enough 'dwell' time in the barrel to raise your point of aim as much as you need, while still providing enough 'umph' to cycle your 1911. I'd start at the medium range of recommended loads with Hodgdon Clays (they recommend 3.6-4.3 in their current reloading guide for your bullet) and see if it makes any improvement on your current load while still cycling your gun, then move up or down as necessary. You might need to use a lighter recoil spring, in the end, to make it all work.

A long time ago I shifted to shooting 200LSWCs for my 'enhanced' 1911 in club competition. Once I got the round recipe sorted out for my gun--about 5.0 gr. of 231 runs at 820 fps in my barrel--I did change out the recoil spring.

If you want to fiddle betwen these two bullets a lot, you might consider getting a Wolff variable-strength recoil spring now.
