Looking for feedback on CFE pistol in 45acp and what loads used.
Loaded plenty of it 9mm.
Likely use a berry plated 230gr rn.

I loaded up and chrony'd some Berry's, 200 gr. HHP with CFE-P. I think the recommended velocity was 970 fps. Was able to get there with no problems. I don't recall the powder weight. But it is written down in my notes. There have been other loads with different bullets that worked good too.
I think CFE-P works good in 45 at max or near max.

CFE-P works in .45 but it is happiest at the higher end of it's charge range.
Good vels on top.
If you are after full power stuff it is probably a good choice, not as good for stuff in the low to middle range. edit (but usable there)
I got excellent vels with it on top.

I have not done much with CFE-P, but I did try a load in 45 using Xtreme 230 RN plated. As a point of reference, I got 709fps with a charge of 6.2gn. I did get a low standard deviation (10.2) which is good for a powder at the lower end of its pressure range. I never worked up higher charges, as I was not looking for full-throttle loads at the time.

My experience is similar to the other responses. CFE does well in upper end loads for 45ACP. My favorite is with a 230gr JHP at near max load. It’s very accurate and packs quite a punch for a SD or out in the woods round. I haven’t had success in finding an accurate load in the low end using multiple bullet and COAL combinations.

I use plenty of CFE-P in 45 but with 185gr SWC. Faster burning powders like TiteGroup seem to function better with the heavy 230gr bullets.

8.1gr of CFE-P with HiTek coated 185 SWCs
4.2gr of TG with HiTek coated 230gr RNs
7.8gr of CFE-P with 185 XTPs
4.5gr of TG with 230 XTPs
All 2" or better shooters at 50' from my S&W 1911 as long as I dont suck

I have always found CFE-P to work better with lighter bullets and at higher powder charges. TG with heavier bullets are accurate and shoot very soft.

Different primers equal the same results for me.

I took a stab at using CFE Pistol in 45acp, but with a 200gr plated bullet. The chrono ES numbers were high, but it probably just indicates that I need to up the charge for more pressure. The groupings at 15yards were acceptable with all of them around 1". Not great but also not bad either. Following are my test results:

I have this for a light load with a 200SWC.
Was trying to load up something that just made major PF-165
this got me there and was .1gr above the start charge.
Bases on past .45 loads I would say if I wanted it could get another 150fps or so with a 200.

Xtreme 200 SWC 6.4 CFE-P 1.20 5 865 200 332 173

I have I just don't have the data.
Some where along they way when I went form my old chrono and notebooks to the chrono I lost a notebook.
If I remember my hotter loads with a coated lead SWC where 1000 and change. CFE-P worked well for the full power stuff.
These were from my first tests. The last tests with the Xtreme 200s I was after something other than a full power load.
