jrdolall, yes the weight is a detractor, but so is the size. I find if I go too big with a gun it is not easy to draw it from the front pocket either. ive tried my PM45 this way, and aside from the weight it doesn't seem doable. while the gun is concealed from view I look like a spectacle with something large and boxy in my front pocket. to me its not the point to fool the soccer moms who are too absorbed with scheduling a spray tan on their cell phones anyway, its not standing out to the bad guy who is scanning the crowd before they ply their trade.

don't take this wrong, but there is a difference between looking like you have a wallet (4"x4") in your front pocket and looking like you have a 7"x7" Gideon's bible from motel 6...LOL

I have been pocket carrying the xds for over a year now, everyday with no one ever pinning it. I do wear Nike pants, "workout" type pants. But they are just plain black nylon . If you want to try a pair of CCWBreakaways. try their website, they make cargo and Khaki style along with jeans, all are made with 2 holsters reinforced with Velcro adjustments for width and height. You can carry a 1911 "full size" in those with no "tell" or print. I bought a pair and they are great, I had 2 glock pistols in either pocket, and my wife and friends saw nothing.
They run around a hundred dollars a pair and they make shorts also. There are 2 snaps under the belt that open up if you need your gun, and the pocket opens straight out instead of trying to pull it up and out. They are reinforced with a yoke inside to stop the pocket from pulling.

I've been carrying a PM45 in my pocket for 3 years now without any incident. Yes it leaves a significant bulge when seated and I wouldn't argue with anyone that it doesn't. Doesn't bother me a bit if someone cares to notice that my pocket is full of something. If thinking you have a gun is somehow a magnet for bad guys I haven't identified that trend yet. They like to steal guns, but they usually try to do that when they are not attached to the owner. Generally the trend is for bad guys to look for easy victims, most don't seem to be looking for a challenge.

Carrying the XDS 45 in my pocket isn't a big deal. I don't like tight pants so they fit reasonably loose and masking breaks up whatever vague gun outline there might be. I also carry a Samsung Galaxy S4 in my left pocket plus a wallet, spare mag, keys and Leatherman Wave in my back pockets.

I don't see what the big deal is. I have three carry permits (VA, FL, and NH) so I'm not worried about the extremely remote possibility of the police thinking that one of the slight bulges in my pockets might be a gun. Criminals aren't going to waste time trying to figure out what's in your pockets either. When they rob you they're simply going to make you empty your pockets in order to make sure.

If you're that worried about someone seeing a bulge in your pocket then don't carry anything in them. It's as simple as that.

I've tried carrying my Glock 36 in my pocket. While it will certainly fit in the front pocket of my (loose fitting) jeans, it feels like a brick in there. Heavy, bulky and I'd be a bit worried about quick draws from the pocket of such a large gun. It may well be no one would notice it, but >I< notice it when its in there!

YMMV of course. ;)

This one does fit in a front loose jean pocket or cargo pants in the Mika holster pretty undectable. Shown with a vest pocket gun for size comparison

The Glock 36 is about the size of a Glock 19 so you'll need some very large pockets to put it in. Years ago a friend of mine who was a Washington DC Metropolitan Police officer carried his Glock 19 in his front pocket while off duty so it can be done, it's just not practical.

The XDS 45 is the length of a Glock 26/27/33 but the width as a Kahr PM40 so it's much easier to hide than a Glock 36.

Appreciate the Heinlein quote, Gordon, but his classic is "Time Enough for Love".

Those have to be pretty big pants.
Of course they are I'm 5'8" and 250 and thanks for noticing.
It doesn't matter if you believe you can or believe you can't you're probably right.

I got a .45 XDs back in June. I have a Mika pocket holster on order for it. It'll defintely fit in my deeper trouser pockets. And once the holster arrives, I'll add it to my carry rotation. I really like the option of having 45acp firepower.
