Howdy!

The LGS has a early 90's (1992 or 1993) .45 Colt Ruger Blackhawk for $375. The guns is blued, fitted with the 7.5" barrel and in excellent condition with a very low round count.

Seems like a good price. I may offer them $375 cash OTD and see what happens.

Your thoughts?

Thanks,

Hunter

I'd offer them $325.00 and see where it goes from there. What's the worst thing that can happen? They say "no"? Then make another offer.

I'd use the "I don't really want a 7.5" barrel, but....." line.

with the extra .45acp cylinder, yes. with out the extra cylinder, no. 300-325 maybe, unless you just have to have it and then it does not matter. eastbank.

What part of the country are you in where they are selling them that cheap? Around here that would be a $400-$425 gun.

Seeing as they are $475 new here, if it is in good shape it is a fair price. Not a smoking deal but a fair price.

I agree with bannockburn. Offer $350 OTD. Worse they can do is say no. Then if you really want it, pay what they're asking.

Aren't the new production units built on the smaller frame, and not as suitable for the Buffalo Bore type loads?

Perhaps, are you thinking of the Vaquero?

Maybe so.

I have a New Vaquero in .44 special, and I know its cylinder and grip frame are smaller.

Maybe the newer Blackhawks just have the smaller grip frame.

As far as the frame and grip frame size, the standard Blackhawk is the same as it's been since 1973. The .45 is the same as it's been since 1971. Only the all steel flat-top from Lipsey's is on the medium frame. Offered in both 4 5/8" and 5½" lengths.

The new Vaquero and Flattop lines use the smaller frame.
Not all of them. They did produce the .41Mag and .44Mag on a large, flat-top frame. Ruger does its best to keep things as confusing as possible. ;)
