I’m wondering if I can shoot .45 Schofield cartridges in my Remington clone revolver chambered for 45 ACP. I know that the Schofield case is longer than the Auto case but not by too much. If the Schofield cartridges seat in the chambers without sticking through stopping the cylinder from rotating are they safe to shoot? Are they even at all compatible? And I’m not referring to 45 colt, because I already know that a revolver chambered in 45 colt will accept the Schofield case. Thanks

You're welcome. I just happened to shoot both cartridges yesterday (different cylinders) and have it out for cleaning.
I was just thinking that it would’ve been convenient if the rounds were compatible. It’s difficult to find 45 auto Cowboy ammo in my area. I’ve had to reload myself because I can’t shoot jacketed bullets in my Remington clone.

Thinking out loud. Would it be possible to use 45 Cowboy Special Brass in that revolver? It is the same length as 45 ACP but has a 45 Colt rim on the case. The rim on 45 Cowboy Special is much thinner (same as 45 Colt) than the rim on 45 Auto Rim that is made for use in a moonclip feed 45 ACP double action revolver.
