I haven't tried them yet, but I found in the Speer manual some reduced loads using 454 brass, and the RCBS 270 SAA bullet. I don't see however where those Speer loads couldn't easily be adapted to a few other cast bullets in that weight range though, and I am looking forward to trying out a couple of them.
I also have a light load I put together a while back, but somewhere between the house, the range, and a bunch of trips to the country, the stupid label came off the box. I don't have a clue as to what their loaded with as far as the charge weight, but I DO know it is with 2400. Just haven't bothered to pull one yet. Maybe I'll get on that next time I am ready to load some up. Those like you mention do shoot great and the recoil and blast is even something my hunting pardner can handle. He has had plenty of issues with his hands and wrist, so much more than Colt level loads are out of the question with him behind the trigger.
Don't get me wrong I LOVE my full tilt loads, but there are times when others around me aren't so much in favor of the added noise and muzzle blast.
