I bought one for my Grand Daughter. She loves to shoot BP with me. She likes to shoot 44cal colts. But, the long rifles were to heavy for her. I'm hopping the Seneca will be just right for her. She will out shoot me like se does with the 44. Which I think will be great,

I am trying to find a 45 seneca myself. The 45 is my favorite for a BP gun. I just won the auction for a 45 CVA halfstock that was on GB but haven't recieved it yet. I have a 45 traditional hawken I built from a cabelas kit many years ago. Thats is one fine shooting gun. At 9 pounds its a little heavy and I hope the CVA is lighter.

I like to shoot RB loads and have a Lee mold for the 200gr Real bullet. My gun shoots those very well also. The cabelas gun has 12 lands and grooves. It really grips a patch or conical. The rifling almost looks like Marlins micro groove rifling. That kit was the best $129 dollars i've ever spent. The finished guns were around $190 at the time. Now the friggin kits are close to $300. I'm glad I bought when I did.

I've got a .36 Seneca. It's my pet. Only shoot PRB in her over about 20 grains of Pyrodex P. You can shoot all afternoon without swabbing. The .010" patches I use look good enough to be used again after shooting. One of the sweetest guns ever made.

I've also got a .32 Cherokee. Good gun, but I much prefer the Seneca's balance.

Hello orange. I use to have a 36cal seneca but stupidly sold it. Now I have a 36 traditions shennendoah full stock. I use to shoot light loads in my gun also. The seneca has a 1-30 twist and is geared to work best with light loads per Sam Fadala.

I also like to shoot 148gr wadcutters made for target shooting in a 38 special out of my seneca. They shot very well. I got ut to 30grs of 3F, anymore than that would half cock the hammer. I have been using 30grs of 2F in the shennendoah and have not had any issues with pressure. The 1-48 twist stabilizes them just fine to boot at least out to 50 yards. They made a neat easy minnie ball load. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a deer with one either as long as the range wasn't too long.

Orange let me know how they work for you. I would use 2F if I were you. I have a CVA squirrel rifle that I won off of GB and I thought I could do the same thing with 32cal WCs that I load my 32 caliber pistols with but its a bust. The 32 caliber barrel is close to .330 and the bullets are a very loose fit.

In the 36 they are a perfect slip fit. I just rub a little lube in the base and fire away. And then fall back.:neener:
