Came across a Winchester 1892 45 Colt octagon barrel carbine today(used) has a nick or two in the stock and and a lite scratch or two in the Blueing. $1800. They will not budge on price. Opinions please.

Didn’t take pics while there. Asked a fella from store to send me some pics. I guess he figured it would help to have a nice lady pose with it.. The Wife and i laughed about that. Gun is nice but I just can’t “pull” the trigger in it at that price. The search goes on :)

No No No No No at that price.

I just looked up what I paid for a Marlin (Remlin) 1894 chambered in 45 Colt.
It was May of 2019.
I picked it up off of Gunbroker for $570.00
It was from the original owner and I felt like it was an "OK" price, but I really really wanted a 45 Colt lever to go with my Vaquero.
Darn thing looked like it was NIB.
It is a sweet working rifle.

I know times are different and it is not a Winchester, but $1,800.00 ????

Great Googly Moogly!!!!!! That just seems outrageous!

Hang in there. You can do much better.

I would say nope except unless you really want it and exactly how many as nice have you seen for sale? Is this rifle still produced? I dunno, sometimes the value of something is what you place upon it, do you want it? Only you can answer that. Ten years from now will it matter if you paid more than you thought it should be because you wanted it.

The $1800 is getting up into the price range of custom handmade flintlock rifles. What exactly is driving up the price of these rifles. What is the MSRP on that rifle? Is it high demand and low production? I suppose if it's out of production, one can name any price. But, it's probably going to be on consignment for a while. Check back in a month.

That one pictured looks like a trapper with an MSRP of about 1900 for the case hardened deluxe take down variant.....

Actually, now that I've looked at the past models, I'm pretty sure that's the discontinued trapper standard with an MSRP of 1550.

The seller is free to ask whatever he likes.

As a buyer I’m free to pay what I feel is fair

I fail to understand why so many feel personally offended if they deem a price too high. You’re free to move on. We see this in gun show threads all the time. Somehow someone I’ve never met owes me a deal.

With today’s insanity of gun/ammo/component prices the seller will likely at some point get his asking price or close. Some guns are going for 300-400% of what they were ten years ago.

Even five years ago you’d laugh at everyday .22’s at a dime apiece. Now they get gobbled up. And it’s only going to get worse. If it’s something you really want, I’d find one as soon as possible at a price I’m willing to pay.

I’m a cowboy action shooter so I favor the 1873’s much smoother (and even more smoothable-is that a word?) action to the stronger and more compact receiver of the 1892 (may St. John of Ogden forgive me).

I’m not crazy about the tang safety and rebounding hammer that the Miroku engineers added to Browning’s design. They are quality rifles, though.

I admit to a bit of bias against .45 Colt as a rifle chambering. I would try to persuade you to get your rifle in .44 WCF (.44-40). I have a Miroku 1873 in that chambering. It’s a base model rifle but it’s a lot of fun to load the ammo and to shoot the rifle.

I really, really like that rifle but there's no way I'd pay $1800 for it.

If you want a .45 Colt Model 92 go to a few large (like state championship) cowboy action matches. You will find some for sale at much lower prices, and they will have been smoothed up to boot!
