my brother just got one, and when i shot it, i nearly blowed off my sholder. i have shot the .470 before (and the .375 H&H, .416 rigby, and the .500 NE), and it didnt kick that hard. i asked him and he said the recoil pad that came with it dont do nothing. my .470 had one on it already, it it works very good, so i have zip experance on buying a recoil pad for a big bore rifle. any suggestions.

When they say you dont need a firearm, you really need a good one.

Not quite in that league, but I put a limbsaver on my Ruger #1 458, & 375, then slip an action eze leather pad on top of that . The combo increases the length of pull, which I need and slip on increases surface area to make them quite comfortable to shoot vs painful.

What are you using a 470 for in La, big nutria??:D:D:D:D:D

Yep, I'll bet he is going after some mutant nutria. A .470 Nitro is just about the bare minimum for nutria. Kinda like shooting a deer with a .223. I think neck shots are recommended. :D

Pachmayr Decelerator. The ones for shooting clays guns have a section at the top which will not snag on clothing so much, recommended on a DG rifle.
