OK gents,

in light of recent events/mass shootings/terrorist attacks etc I want to expand my at work resources.

due to wonderful liberal laws, I cannot take a firearm into my building on a college campus. I can keep on in the car. I do not want to debate any possible downsides of keeping a firearm in a car, which there are some. instead i want some reviews of a bail out bag.

I have looked at the 5.11 bail out bag http://www.511tactical.com/bail-out-bag.html and like it. i like the feel and how it can ride on a hip and be reached for a reasonable reload with a rifle. the ability to take a small first aid kit is an added bonus. this is an active shooter on the loose pack. it is my refusal to be a lamb led to slaughter or to be an angry goat with nothing but a pocket knife when the big bad wolf has a firearm or worse. I get to my car and get to my pack, then figure out the proper action, be if flee, fight, or shelter.

is there a similar option for hand gun? is there a similar pack that has one or two rifle pouches and one or two pistol mag pouches? I want to be able to grab the bag, within 30 seconds or so have a decent fighting chance to be able to shoot, move and reload in an efficient manner if the worst happens.

i am not set on always having an AR in the car, but a pack or bag in which to keep a handgun for quick access in the car and not freak out campus police if I were pulled over and car searched for whatever reason.

would I be better served with bag containing a gun, paddle holster and paddle mag pouch? does anyone have any experience with this sort of kit? it seems most are made for rifle.

handgun would be a full sized glock. rifle would be AR15 Carbine. thanks

I use a large black multi pocket backpack for a bug out bag for the handguns, magazines, ammo and accessories.

Can you smartly reload from the bag? I might go that rout with a paddle type mag pouch that i can reload from. Yet not need to fumble around with my belt

chest mag carrier, LAPG.COM has a lot of the stuff you need. I wouldn't mess with ammo in a bag because its too restrictive so id opt for a chest carrier.

You want something that won't "freak out campus police" if you're pulled over and searched...

First of all, if your car is searched, it's not likely to matter WHAT you're carrying a gun in. They will probably respond the same way for any kind of carry bag/container they find with a gun in it.

If you're simply looking for something that probably won't draw a second glance, then don't go for anything like what you're looking at now. Get yourself another backpack, suitable for your needs. Or something else that likewise won't attract attention.

Don't make it huge and cumbersome. It should be large enough to contain the handgun you want with capacity for a reasonable (to you) amount of ammunition/magazines. Maybe some ear plugs, too. This makes it small enough for you to put it nearly any place in your vehicle without being in the way of much else.

I have a couple of portable DVD player carry cases which work great. Unfortunately, I can't find the ones I want any more, so I can't buy more of these. There are other similar cases out there, though:

It's big enough to carry a full sized handgun like my Colt 1991A1 in it's IWB holster, plus several extra magazines in a side pouch. It's small enough to put anywhere in my car. It's got a handle and a carry strap. And it doesn't make anybody who sees it think "GUN!"

Chief. All kinds of those packs are in Office Depot. With the Lap Tops.

I recently carry a Mountain back pack, in it, my Steyr AUG barrel off, no one would believe a full sized rifle was in there. And a 30 round magazine in place, a spare 30 and 42 round magazine also in side.

This lies flat in our Jeep Cherokee empty floor space, no tire, just an inflator.
Plus a nice new pair of electronic ear muffs. A black jacket, badge on the chest, XXX Security on the back! Covered all the bases I could.

Oh, the Jeep is a marked Security Vehicle also, shines at night like a new Police Car (might not be a good idea lately!) Jeep never stays out at night, lives in the garage. Stay in a Motel, so does back pack.
