Looking into purchasing an AR in 5.45x39.
I'm wondering if there is an compatability between the parts for a standard AR-15 in 5.56/.233 and the 5.45x39 like BCG, extractor, firing pin, etc.

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Ive seen kits that are just the bolt.. so you can use you normal bolt carrier. That that makes me think that the extractor and firing pin are different. but Barrel, mag, and bolt are the only things I know of that would need to be swapped. Oh and hammer spring if you are going to shoot surplus

You use C-products/ASC 5.45 mags if you want but, I have had great luck (zero FTF's in ~1K rounds) using good old fashioned USGI 30 round Aluminum mags with the old style black follower and only loading 25 rounds of 5.45 in them.

Again, you can swap out your stock trigger spring with the red extra power spring, but it may not be necessary. I also run a RRA 2 stage trigger fitted lower on my 5.45 S&W upper. I have ONLY shot surplus Bulgy and Russian 7n6 and every round has fired on the first trigger pull.
