Found 250 rnd cases of .410 #8 shot shell for 5 cents per rnd via ammoseek... NOT!!!

CTD advertised 250 round cases of .410 Bore Fiocchi Target Load 2-1/2" #8 for $11+ per case. I ordered 9 cases yesterday and tried to order a dozen more today. BUT... they erred in their ad. They're 25 rnd boxes. The agent I spoke to said to refuse the delivery and, after CDT receives the return, and after it goes through their processes, I'll receive a full refund... eventually.

I'm disappointed but not surprised.:(

Way to go CDT.....

I am no fan of CTD, they're rarely the cheapest and underhanded in their marketing. And it does suck that you have to wait for your refund. But you can't really be angry that you aren't getting something for 10% of the market value somebody typed an extra 0.

UPDATE: I told my buddy (who told me about this deal) what I learned from CTD today and he cancelled his order too but they offered to re-route the shipment so he'll get a refund sooner. So...

I called to try and have mine re-routed too but decided, since both these orders have been complete goofs, I'd verify what is ACTUALLY in the package(s) on their way to me. I was told I'm receiving 250 rnd cases. Okay...

I told my buddy to call CTD again and only speak to the agent I spoke to. He was told he's receiving 25 rnd boxes rather than 250 rnd cases. Also, he was told that it's impossible re-route his shipment because it's scheduled for delivery to him today. So why did that other agent tell him it could be re-routed? Hmm...

And why did the "other" agent I spoke to tell me I'm receiving 25 rnd boxes. Another hmm...

Seems to be an AWFUL lot of confusion at CDT. But...

Maybe (this time) it'll work out to my advantage. We'll see...

I wasn't upset about the advertising error and would have taken the fall-through in stride. I'm not a "complete" jerk.:) I am a bit upset about the multitude of errors that followed... but much more upset about what "appears to be" deception on the part of at least one agent.

The ammo is $11/box. There are 25 rounds in a box, 10 boxes in a flat. 410 running that much better be top-drawer stuff as it can be found for less elsewhere

"Cheaper Than Dirt" is anything BUT..............

Thank you but, no, what I purchased was 250 rnd cases of Fiocchi .410 shot shell for $11+ per case. Even the agents I spoke to admitted the error. You can no longer see the specifics of that web page.

Again, I'm not complaining about their mistake nor would I "insist" on receiving what was advertised. I am complaining about the several errors that followed the original advertising mistake "plus" what "seems" to be a cover-up by at least one agent.

I don't intend to be a jerk but... if I "do" receive the 250 rnd cases that I ordered then I'm not going to return them to help a company like CTD.

We are now offering products from a number of warehouses on our website. Each warehouse is a separate company not under the control of Cheaper Than Dirt!. This allows each warehouse to set their own prices, including shipping. Each company competes with the other on many of the same products, and manages their inventory and prices. Each has their own agreement with their shipping company. We hope to have a better system in the future that will allow lower shipping costs, but at this point it is still in discussion.

From their FAQ: https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/faqs.aspx

Question: Why do some items appear more than once and have different prices and part numbers?
Answer: Our goal is to save you time and money by comparing prices for you. An item may be available from multiple warehouse partners that individually price and maintain their products. You can select the warehouse that offers the product at the price you are willing to pay. To lower your shipping costs, please select products from the same warehouse.

If you think about what this really means, you may gain new clarity regarding CTD's pricing and customer service.

^^^ So what do you think I should do as a customer who made a valid purchase via their website? And what should they do as the vendor to honor said purchase? What should my friend expect who may be receiving one tenth of what he bought?

Most have a disclaimer that states they are not responsible for errors in catalogs or on websites

This. Some vendors will honor erroneous pricing if it's not too bad, but in your case the error was pretty obviously way out of line.

The original off seems like a mistake. My particular sense of situational awareness regarding insistently predominant falsehoods in advertising would have saved me all that trouble. There is no possible way that was five cents per round.

Why even play their game friend?

My thoughts exactly..
It was clearly a mistake in the add.

And it was clearly a case of greed overruling common sense for even ordering it.

Now, it is what it is, and you will have to wait for the refund, and/or jump through hoops sending it back.

^^^ I'm an <deleted> buying from CTD but I'm not "giving" them my money... perhaps loaning it interest free for a couple of weeks. Again, I was told by one agent that I'm receiving 250 rnd cases and by another that I'm receiving 25 rnd boxes. We'll soon see. If the former then I'll keep them and be happy that CDT lost "this round" but if the latter then I'll refuse the shipment and wait for my refund.

Think about this; If ANY of US sold something on eBay and erred in the description and refused to follow through then the buyer will "probably" leave us negative feedback rather than forgive our error... right? Another couple of things like that and we'll lose our ability to sell on eBay... right?

Please forgive my lack of empathy for CTD but, frankly, I've had quite more than enough of these double-standards.

My reply follows in "quotes"...

"NO... DO NOT CANCEL MY ORDER.

I will wait until it's back in stock. Please do no try to deceive me. I know you're mistake and I know you're trying to get out of it without admitting your error.

DO NOT CANCEL MY ORDER."

Just off the telephone with another CTD agent... she couldn't find any reference to the other agents I spoke with.

I asked her to email CS informing them I DO NOT want my order cancelled but I do understand errors and will let them off the hook if they send me an email; 1. Admitting their error, 2. Admitting they should have been honest with me regarding said error, and 3. Apologizing for the attempted deception.

The agent said she'd email me a synopsis of our conversation.

Honestly, I don't think I'm taking this too far nor being too hard-nosed. I understand and forgive mistakes. I loathe deception and it takes a long time for me to forgive that.

Just received the email "synopsis" from the last agent I spoke to. What follows that is my reply.

CDT... "Mr. XXXXX,
We discussed a discrepancy in our system that lead to the cancelation of your order. I have left a note with customer service to contact you back with an apology letter. They will be in tomorrow morning, depending on the weather conditions but they should contact you with in the next 2 days. I apologize myself for what happened. And I hope that you have a great holiday!

Me... "Patricia,

Thank you but this is not what we discussed. I stated very clearly that I DO NOT WANT MY ORDER CANCELLED. I stated that I will ALLOW CTD to cancel my order IF THEY; 1. Admit to their pricing error, 2. Admit they should have been honest with me regarding said error, and 3. Apologize for the attempted deception .

Unless all three of my requirements are met... I REFUSE TO ALLOW CANCELLATION OF MY ORDER.

Sincerely,
Mike"
