:DHey everyone ok so 5 guns to hunt North America

we have done this one a lot but I am putting a twist on it

5 guns everything from varmints to moose here is the kicker they have to be 26 caliber or 6.5’s

Please list your cartridge choice and the firearm you are using it in

have fun I’ll post mine here in a bit!:D

Ahh forgot to add the 527 in 6.5Grendel....speaking of i need to finish cleaning the stock on thst one.......

Oh sounds fun! I’d do a model 70 for a 264 Wm!
Thst would be the classic option for thst chambering and a really good one at that.
Im actually building a swap barrel on an American, that will use a .264Win barrel....i really need to stop buying other stupid stuff and order my barrels.

Don't need 5. Pick any one 26 caliber or bigger. And yes, even brown bear.

I mean some guy named bell killed elephants with a 6.5
156 grain FMJ BULLET NO LESS

Over 1100 of them. Granted his favorite was the 7X57 which he used to kill the most, but the 6.5X55 took a few too. Late in his life he stated that he would have used the 308 had it been an option during his hunting days.

I wouldn't want to tackle an Alaska Brown bear with any of those.
I wouldnt tackle any bear much less a brown bear.....they are much larger than I am, and have much more effective nails amd teeth, Probably win that wrestling match......
Also have no desire to eat one.......

In my uneducated opinion, it dosent really take much to kill something, and the 6.5s will poke a plenty good enough hole for that......
To kill/STOP something in a bad situation, and with less than expert knowledge of the animal, and conditions, as well as a great deal of confidence in ones ability......id like a little more please.... preferably more people, with alot more......

Still if its not trying to cause a similar condition to me that im trying to cause to it, id shoot most things with a 6.5 loaded hot and heavy.....again just my opinion.

Not sure these calibers are sufficient for all North American game if including the big browns and those nasty white ones! Or even those big moose looking things if "stopping" them is also called for. So I just need the two I have, a Kimber Hunter for mountain/carry duty and my Savage Axis II in Boyds laminate for position hunting, both in 6.5CM. They can hunt anything but I would want somebody standing beside me with my Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun if the "anything" can bite, claw or stomp, just saying ;).

that 26 nosler pushing a mono bullet like a 160 woodliegh would put a serious hurt on a grizzly I mean some guy named bell killed elephants with a 6.5
156 grain FMJ BULLET NO LESS
Go ahead. Make my day. Mr. Bell did shoot a few with a .256 but found the bullets tend to deform and other ammunition problems. Most were shot 7x57 Mauser or .275 Rigby which was a .284 bullet. All shots were carefully placed brain shots. But go ahead, I won't stop you. I just said that I would not.
I know that a long standing world record Brown bear was shot by an Eskimo women with a damaged single shot .22 LR. So there is some distance between what is possible and what I would attempt.

Actually, I have already built my 6.5 guns
6.5x06 1-9 Custom Rem 700 85- 140
6.5x06 1-8 Custom Rem 700 85- 160
6.5x55 1-7.5 Swede Custom M-96
6.5x55 1-9 Swede Rem 700 Classic
6.5x08 1-8 Custom Rem 700
260 1-8 Custom Rem 700
6.5 Grendel 1-8 Custom AR-15 W suppressor / full function action

The different twist rates represent different max weights for the bullet lengths they will stabalize. The 160gr in the 6.5 is like an arrow, once it starts moving forward it is hard to stop. In the Grendel at 1,000 fps it will penetrate 9 dry phone books then 11” of hard compacted road bed clay. This is what it looks like:
