5 Nuevo Laredo officers killed in 4 days

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico — Two police officers were gunned down today while on their way to work, bringing to five the number of authorities that have been slain in this violent border city in four days.

Ricardo Uvalle Escobedo and Jose de Jesus Morin Salinas were killed by unidentified assailants in separate incidents while en route from their homes to the Nuevo Laredo police station, said investigator Oscar Sepulveda.

Numerous spent Kalashnikov rifle shells were found near the vehicles of both officers, who were killed in different parts of the city, Sepulveda said.

The shootings came just hours after two men with machine guns opened fire with more than 50 rounds Tuesday night, killing a pair of police officers not far from city hall.

Cmdr. Daniel Juarez and Inspector Carlos Manuel Alvarez were riding in an unmarked car in an area between the municipal building and a crowded federal consumer protection office when they were ambushed, Sepulveda said.

Juarez was killed instantly, while Alvarez died about an hour later at a hospital.

The back-to-back slayings brought to 13 the number of police officers killed since January in Nuevo Laredo, home to 330,000 across the border from Laredo, Texas.

Sunday night, Jose Noel Vives, a police agent for Tamaulipas state, which includes Nuevo Laredo, was shot 15 times and killed as he left his financee's house.

Authorities say two of Mexico's most powerful drug gangs are waging a bloody battle for control of key cocaine and marijuana smuggling routes into the United States. The conflict has unleashed a wave of violence.

President Vicente Fox has sent in the army and federal agents to restore order, but the violence has continued. Officials also ordered all members of the municipal police force off the streets for drug tests and background checks.

Juarez and Alvarez were returning from city hall, where members of the police force have gathered many days, awaiting reinstatement for patrol duties.

As of today, no one had been detained in any of the last three attacks.

Yeah, dontcha know, when ruskie ammo is fired in a mini-30, the gun automatically stamps the brass "ruger; non-kalashnikov".

Well, at least we now know the identities of the last 5 honest cops in Nuevo Laredo.

Unfortunately, they are all dead, as the price of honesty in a corrupt society is quite high.

Sheesh, what a mess.

My father is a preacher living in Laredo Tx and has a mission in Nuevo Laredo. He says its pretty bad over there with the drug dealers and all. I worry about him......

can somebody give me the cliff notes version of this?

I heard most of the cops were on the drug payroll, and that's why the mex feds went in. And i've heard that the violence is primarily between two gangs, of which, again, many cops are associated.

So, i assumed that the dirty cops were being whacked by the opposing gang, as sort of targets of opportunity.

but if the cops getting killed aren't crooked, then why are they getting whacked? it's just local guys right? the gangs aren't attacking the feds are they?

i'm confused

It's a cluster copulation in Nuevo Laredo. A special unit of Mexican cops/special forces were sent there some time back. I forget the name of the unit. Just about the entire force went over to one of the gangs and killed the ones who didn't go with them. Since they've been taking on all comers whether local or federal. They seem to be equal opportunity murderers.

Certain truths just don't change. The solution is the same as it was in the 1930's. END PROHIBITION. Drugs need to be re-legalized for citizens (i.e. adults), in other words, end prohibition II. That would not only mean restoring individual liberty, it would obliterate the high profit motive INSTANTLY. The turf wars end effectively overnight. If the same people that are addicted now that drugs are illegal, could buy their opium again, from say a taxed pharmacy, and get clean stuff at a predictable price, they're not going to patronize the lowlife that is selling it all RIGHT FREAKING NOW on your street corner.

This issue is the hardest to get through people's heads and I've finally figured out why. When a nation rejects principles of individual liberty as we did by re-electing F.D.R., even when the consequences start showing up, they still won't turn back, out of jackass pride.

These gigantic problems exist in America as a whole, in Laredo TX, and "Nuevo" Laredo, because entire nations have rejected correct principles of true individual liberty.

Americans should listen to their conscience, do the right thing, drop their arrogance and allow their neighbor the same liberty that THEY THEMSELVES want, and end the "war on Americans possessing certain drugs"

Americans know deep down what the solution is but flat out don't have the courage to do it.

I don't expect the people of Mexico to understand any of this because they have no tradition of good law, true citizenship, or liberty.

When we can't even get the U.S. congress the off the backs of medical marijuana patients, we're going to continue to see hell on earth stories like this, so enjoy.

Part of the problem is that Americans have been conditioned to be extremely, unbelievably, horrendously, and amazingly short sighted. They see some huge drug bust on the nightly news and their rational mind KNOWS it accomplishes absolutely nothing, but they cheer on the cops and allow themselves to feel safer because those big bad bales of cocaine are "off the street." It is the exact same mental process the gun banners use when they say "I'm glad the cops took that evil gun 'off the street,' I now feel safer."

None of this is as accident either. Powerful forces behind the scenes knew exactly what would happen if they succeeded in creating prohibition part II. They knew that once the American people accepted the concept of government deciding what substances of the earth that you, as a formerly free citizen are "allowed" to possess, then they could ravage the bill of rights. I am always amazed how people recognize how the "war on Americans possessing certain drugs" has been USED to obliterate the 4th amendment, yet the mental control system is SO strong that they refuse to take hold of the obvious solution. The over the top insane New York state drug laws are Called "Rockefeller laws" because of super globalist traitor, and former Governor Nelson Rockefeller pushed them into law. By the way, BEFORE F.D.R. overthrew the constitution, AN AMENDMENT was required to enact prohibition. AFTER the constitution was overthrown in 1933, the subsequent trail to prohibition part II DID NOT require any constitutional amendment, even though it operates on the exact same principle of the Federal Government invading your home and "controlling a substance" (when in truth, what gets controlled is actually the CITIZEN).

Bottom line: there is NO defense for keeping prohibition part II. I can't find anyone who will even attempt to defend this abomination. What they do (and this really pisses me off) is instead of defending their position of keeping certain drugs illegal, they ATTACK the concept of re-legalization. I have a relative who is a pharmacist, and I begged him to name ONE freaking benefit of keeping drugs illegal. One benefit. Just one, without changing the subject, and when he couldn't, he got so mad that he stormed off. This is what happens when you challenge the mental control system: people try and change the subject, evade, deny etc, and when that doesn't work they get mad and take off. He tried the usual kindergarten "logic" that if drugs were re-legalized then "more people would use drugs." This is one of those B.S. arguments that people use, that 1/10th of a second after it crosses their lips, they realize what nonsense it is, but they don't have the courage to take it back. I clamly reminded him of the obvious fact that the same people that are snorting, smoking, needling NOW, will be the same ones doing it when drugs are re-legalized. Then, like arguing with a gun banner, he trots out the tired false logic that "more kids will be exposed to drugs." It's so predictable that when someone is getting destroyed in an argument, they always try to hide behind "the children." I simply asked him to explain the logic in that (because there is none) and it was then that he got so mad he stormed out.

If you have the courage to challenge the system of mind control and "correct" thoughts, then help fight for real solutions, not feel good B.S. from NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, PBS.

Remember this: if they can use a "no knock" warrant on your neighbor just because he has a non approved substance in his house, or grows a non approved plant, then your guns, no matter how "sporting purpose" they are, will NEVER, repeat NEVER be safe!
