5 Star speedloaders

Skeptics are always complaining about clips hurting their fingers to load ;). Good, well fitting clips are faster (barely) than loaders, but obviously not when it comes to refilling them after use. I just like 'em since they're cheap and simple. My 5 star 8 shot was like 50 bucks shipped.

I bought a couple 5 Star loaders for my LCR because they seemed to be the only people making loaders that would work with the LCR (at the time, anyway). I am very impressed with the quality and would most definitely recommend these. The LCR is my only wheel gun so I can't say I have experience/exposure to other speed loaders, but I was very impressed with the apparent precision of the build. Happy hunting!

I can attest to their great build quality and perfect function. I really like 'em. I have some for an 8-round Smith .357 N-frame, and some for a 6 round .44M N-frame.

After seeing the 5-star loader recommended many times, I am often tempted to get one to find out how good they are. HOWEVER, my Safariland loaders drop the rounds into the cylinder with just a simple push, no turning of any knob, and that's what always stops my drifting over to the "dark side". When under pressure, simpler is always better.

My wife's gun is a 7 shot S&W 386 Nightguard. She likes revolvers but isn't into guns so I had to figure out the best setup for her to then take to a 2 day defensive handgun course. I tried HKS, some type of rubber speed loader, and speed strips, along with the 5 Star.

The pushbutton Safariland might be ideal, but they don't make 'em for this model. The 5 Stars are by far the best option and I bought a total of 4. Then, I had to learn kydex holster making to make her a holster and speedloader pouches...

I couldn't let her fumble with generic soft snap pouches and nobody makes kydex ones for 7 shot 5 Star speedloaders.

Tired of separating my wimpy .357M reload plinkers as to brass case brand for use in my Ranch Products 8x moonclips, I ordered a 'bedside' kit - an 8x speedloader and a 2 x 8 loading plate some years back... NICE! I liked it so much, I tried to order another pair of speedloaders, to find them back-ordered! They had a 'range kit' - two 8x speedloaders and an 8 x 8 loading plate - with free s/h - for the same price. I haven't used the big loading plate much - but, it's another piece of 'techno-art'! A year or so later, I saw another LN 'bedside kit' in a lgs' used case - $10! So, four 8x speedloaders and 3 baseplates - for three 627's. Fun - and not picky as to brass or bullets, athough you shouldn't mix calibers (.38 & .357M).

I do keep a couple of speedloaders filled with personal protection ammo as well as moonclips so loaded. I got spoiled by the short/RN-ed .45 ACP's being so quick to reload, the eight spider-legs of 8x moonclips not being so fast to load. The 8x speedloader seems faster - and more natural - and I like them.

I've been using 5-Star speedloaders for a couple of years now for my GP100 and really like them. In addition to what everyone else said, I like the fact that turning clockewise locks the rounds into the loader, and CCW releases the rounds. That's the way it should be (righty tighty, lefty loosey).

I never learned to use one right.
I have bullet strips because they carry easier and invisably
A little tip.
Buy the 8 round strips, load 2, skip one, load2 more etc.... You can peel 2 off fast as one bullet! You can modify 6 rounders to load a "J" Frame too.
They all cost the same.
Not as fast as a speedloader.
An alternative tho.
I use em for both my Model 10 and 36.
All it takes is pratice.
