For those of you reloading or considering reloading for the .50 BMG. Here are some tips that may help a bit. RCBS make a bullet puller for .50 BMG the cost is in the $200.00 range. However, if you order a .50 collete for thier normal bullet puller from midway for under $10 it will work as well. I took a normal collete to my buddy at the local machine shop and had him drill it a bit deeper. It works great now. Total cost with the machining puts me into it for about $17.00
For those of you who have been looking for primers to reload with for the .50 BMG. CCI/Speer has not made and since May of this yr. I found a stash and ordered in 100,000 hirtenberger primers. They are what Talon uses for manufacturing thier .50 BMG RDS. I am keeping what I need and the rest I am taking to a buddy who sells componets, surplus powder, bullets and ammo and so forth. I am not sure what he will be selling them for. But I will pass along his name and #. Pat McDonald, Massillon Ohio Phone # 330-833-4360
I primed some .50 BMG last night with these primers and they seem to seat well.
Lee precision makes a press for the .50 BMG. Thru Midway you can get a press for about $150 or so which includes dies shell holder and priming tools as well. Case guage and trimmer for under $30. I would also recommend a bullet sizer die for sizing pulled bullets. The cost is about $17.00 All the equipment to load with is Lee except for the powder measure which is a Hornady Lock and load for the 50 BMG. It was purchassed thru midway as well, cost about 80 bucks or so.
When it absolutely has to be destroyed, us a .50 BMG!
Life is not always fair, but attendance counts!
