Well I'm not exactly sure why but up here in New England there is a definite shortage of 50 cal ammo. I've been to over 10 gun shows since the end of last year and each one had none. I talked to one of the vendors and they said last year at this time they had over 40,000 rnds of the stuff and they sold out quick. Now he can't get anymore. Hummmm, guess most of it is going overseas or something. :uhoh:

I REALLY got to start reloading. At least I'm keeping the brass. Now I just have to buy the equipment.

Anyone else notice a shortage in their area?

The feds have put a clause in the sales of surplus ammo that it may not be resold as ammunition. The work around is to pull the bullets, dump the powder, then reload the brass. As long as powder, brass and projectile are not 'as sold' you are good to go.
You did not notice that a lot of the .223 is now 'from reclaimed components'?

I was wondering what happened to all the .50 cal stuff.

When I was in the gun business about a year and a half ago, .50 cal ammo was all over the place for pretty cheap, then all of the sudden the supply dwindled away.

I found some new .50 cal that was priced OK and ready to ship, but it was from American Ammunition (A-MERC), and we all know what fine quality stuff they make. Needless to say, I didn't buy any from them.

Ammoman has plenty, you can check with Pat's reloading, Aim surplus, Watson's Weapons, Thunderbird Cartridge Co., Outdoor Specialties LLC, AAA Ammunition, Arizona Ammo, Power Plus Ent., Summit Ammunition, TTI Armory and Hi-Tech Ammo.

FWIW, I have been very pleased with the M2 ball, AP and API that I've gotten from Watson's Weapons.
