Being the 556 has thicker brass than the 223 will the bullet seat properly or will it seat to tight and cause excessive pressure?

It is an old wives tale that 5.56 NATO cases are heavier, and therefore have thicker walls, than commercial 223 Remington cases.

5.56 NATO cases can be used just fine for conversion to 300 BLK without any special needs.

Some 5.56 cases are heavier than some commercial, and vice versa, you just have to weigh them.

As posted, military 5.56 cases are used extensively to make .300 BLK cases with. Works just fine.

As always, start low and work up your load. Case weights have always been a part of rifle loading. I log the case weights on .223 cases. There can be quite a difference.
