Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone has load data for 6.5 creedmoor and the Hornady A-max 100 gr bullets. I cant find data in any of my loading manuals for this bullet

The closest I can find is on Hogdon is for 95 GR Vmax using 4350 and 4895 (43-47 and 37-41 respectively). Am I safe to use this for for the 100 gr A-Max?

Starting low and working up since the weight is close from same manufacturer and same polymer tip?

I also found data for a 100 gr NOS BT for 4350 and 4895 using the same powders but these are spitzers not polymer tips.

I reload for a few calibers, but with the exception of a few lead rounds (where I could get weight but not manufacturer) I have always been able to come up with load data from a manual for what I was loading.

Thoughts or a little advice please? I also have some 130s and 140s, but I have data for those, I just thought it might be nice to load some 100s up light and throw them at 100 and 200 yard targets.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Pick a load for any bullet weight close to what you have then drop the minimum charge a grain or two then work up in 1 grain increments.

There's typically a 3 to 4 grain spread for any bullet's maximum and minimum charge across all the powders suitable for use with it.

Dave,

10th Edition Hornady manual has 12 powders for the 100 gr A-Max.

Guess I need to buy a hornady specific manual. Thanks for the advice.

I initially wanted to share a picture of the page until it occurred to me it is copyrighted. My reloading supplies LGS allows customers to browse their store copy and they don't mind me snapping a picture for reference.

Thanks Bikemutt, that's cool, i ordered a new Hornady manual, and wont get to go shoot my new rifle until next weekend anyway.

Yep, i did see the hogdon data on the barnes and nosler rounds. I also figured since the weight was the same I could use the starting data.

Pretty sure the rifle is more capable than I at long distances right now, Savage model 10 BA Stealth, so just looking for a decent load to start working my way up to longer distances.

As I get better I will refine my loads to be the most accurate and will probably steer away from the lighter loads and work with more conventional 120 to 140.

The 100s were on sale though, only 18 for 100 at my local sportsmans. might go grab another box or two..

Thanks.

New Hornady manual arrived, now I just need to go shoot some factory so I can reload the brass :)

will be going tomorrow if weather permits

Have to break in the barrel, and then see what she is capable of.....

Hit the range yesterday, broke in the barrel as recommended by Savage, first few groups were decent, 3/4 MOA at 100, last ten round shot resulted in 5 in the black (5 seperate Shoot and See pasties) and a 5 shot group just under .5 MOA with Factory Hornady 140 gr BTHP American gunner ammo. 5mph crosswind at 45 degrees, 60F outside at 4500 feet elevation. I think I am gonna like this new rifle :) it will obviously shoot better than I can right now.

I have some brass to reload, with some of those 100 Gr amax now, so, time to get cracking and see how that light load works (and I am gonna drop by the store today to get some more factory 140 also, maybe I can even get the same lot#)

Good shooting webrx! We differ slightly in terminology; 3/4 MOA is more than "decent" for me, I pack up and go home when I shoot a group that tight :D

LOL, Thanks bikemutt, it was a good day - some are better than others.

BTW - I did pack up and go home, as stated above, those were the last 10 rounds of the day, figured it wasn't getting any better than that :)

Sunray, yep, I am fairly comfortable with any similar load data (especially at the same weight), but went ahead and bought the Hornady manual anyway, figure it wouldn't hurt to have that along with my lymans, alliant, and all the online data.
