I'm looking for reduced loads.
Looking for around 2,000fps or less with 130gr bullets to see what would happen with my 6.5 hunting load out to 400yd and beyond.
I could just put the water jugs out to 400yd+ and shot them, but the range I go to only goes to about 330yd where it's flat. Plus they don't want people shooting water jugs probably because people leave shot up jugs or pieces of the blasted apart jugs all over the range.
Some times it takes 3 shots to catch a bullet in the backstop even at close range.
So far I have done a full muzzle velocity test, nothing but tiny fragmentation and milk jug bits, no surprise there.
A 100yd test was achieved by reducing my normal load a few grains, still pure fragmentation, found bigger bullet fragments and bigger/fewer milk jug pieces.
Pretty much don't shoot anything at less than 100yd with the 6.5 using lead bullets if you plan on eating it.
The slowest published load I can find for 130gr uses w748 down to about 2,400fps. That's my 200yd shot, so its covered.
I have and used imr4350, h322, w748, re7, al410 to make reduced velocity 30-30s, was able to drop down to like 1,650fps with al410 in 30-30.

No idea of the velocity? Fired in my Savage axis. 100 yard target.

Vihtavouri shows 2021FPS using 26.2 N150 behind a 130 Barnes 130 TSX.

That's a monolithic bullet but you may be able to get similar results with a traditional bullet.

This is definitely not published but you might also look into "the load" and try Unique or Red Dot reduced loads if you're using lead bullets. The Load is supposedly good for only .30 caliber service-type cartridges but it might be fun to figure it out for the 6.5.

I load reduced-power loads for shooting steel plates with a Winchester 1894 .30-30 using Unique and 170 grain FP lead and it's a hoot.

There is an easier and cheaper way to do this. Most bullet manufacturers will post photos of their bullets at various impact speeds on their websites. This is for Nosler Accubond, but most any premium bullet will be pretty much the same.

Most standard lead bullets will have more expansion at 1800 fps and will probably come apart over 2800 fps. If you can't find it on their website call or e-mail them and ask what impact velocities they recommend.

Solid copper bullets don't expand much at all below 2000 fps, but stay together well over 3500 fps.

Go to YouTube and watch Frontline rejects. This is just one link
I tired every bullet I could find, target and hunting, mainly focused on hunting.
I quickly found mine doesn't like any lead 120-125gr, don't know why but I could only get ever get 3 to 5 inch groups at 100yd. Bullets that did the best were 122gr controlled chaos solid copper a buck each, 130 and 140gr game changer the cheap one, nozler 140gr ballistic tip 40 cents a bullet and limited availability, eld-x and eld target 50 cents a bullet and limited availability I they're like 147 and 143gr.
Game changer 130gr seemed to do the best and as a bonus it was the cheapest and seems to be the easiest to get so I went with it.

No idea. But it is one of the only rifle powders generally approved by the manufacturer to download to 60% of max safely.
Yeah re7 gave me one of the most accurate 223 loads I ever tested.
They made about 50% of normal muzzle energy and the case was probably about 70% full, but wouldn't cycle an auto.
The perfect load for a bolt gun with a silencer out to about 200yd.

I would try H4895 first. On the surface, something like AA5744/H or IMR4198/RL7 makes sense, but it may not be enough to cycle a semiauto. H4895, even in reduced form may very well cycle a semi.
If the op is just testing terminal effects, cycling might be nice but not nessary. I'm inferring this isn't a load for plinking unless the scope of plan has opened. Those guys at front line rejects do a great job of terminal testing so if they had the data needed I'd just defer to their tests.

Yeah but where is the fun in that?

I say it's a problem in need of another rifle, a 6.5 Grendel should be perfect for the job, unless you want the jugs so close, you get wet.
