Who makes ar's chambered in this round.

If i buy a smith and wesson m&p 15 can i buy anybodys upper in 6.5 grendel and put it on my lower?

can anyone post links to buy either entire rifles or uppers for the grendel. im having a hard time finding much online tonight.

How about some figures on the 6mmAR using a regular-old 20-inch barrel, a 16- and a 14.5-inch barrel.

And more affordable Sierra or Nosler bullets? I about fainted the first time I was in the same room with a box of Berger bullets. Them's 'spensive!

6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC and others are on this chart from Wikipedia:

.300 Whisper is not on the chart but it is the least common of the cartridges mentioned above. The .300 Whisper would also be more comparable to .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf as another heavy slower moving bullet.

Lots of info on the Grendel at wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6.5_Grendel

That is one of the least informative graphs I have ever seen. Barrel length, Jules, FPS, none of these are represented. But it is pretty.

yeah thanks for all the replies, ive already made my mind up on which cartridge i want, thats why i aksed about the grendel and not a comparison.

with wolf making grendel ammo now, im guessing its going to get more popular, and even the wolf price right now i can afford.

Fella's;

Gotta admit that if I were gonna buy another upper it'd be the 6.5 Grendel. The 6.8 has had way too many teething problems to open my wallet.

I read the article, and this was the same conclusion I reached. The graphs did not show the actual data points, and the text did nothing to provide the actual velocities or BCs used for each. It also provides a data point of one for the 6.8 SPC and other chamberings. That's unfortunate since, for example, the .277 MK used for the 6.8SPC plot has a BC pretty far below that of the 115gr Hornady .277 OTM currently being used by most SPC shooters. When I crunch the numbers on a 115gr Hornady .277 OTM, I'm not seeing nearly the performance drop-off between it and the 123gr SMK 6.5 data that the chart would imply. And when I use a Speer 130gr SPBT in my 6.8SPC, I'm getting a BC of .450 and performance that likely gives up little to the 6.5 Grendel inside of 400 yards.

The 6.8 has had way too many teething problems to open my wallet.
It's my understanding that the chamber spec issues that bedeviled the Shaw barrel/Silver State ammo combination are long past. Folk seem to be pretty happy these days with either/both products. My last two barrels (Shaw manufactured to Ko-Tonics spec) shoot the Hornady and Remington commercial fodder quite well, and my handloads use Silver State Armory brass exclusively. It's good stuff.

The C Products mags are also a nice addition to the aftermarket; they work well and cost half that of the PRI mags.
