I have some original cupro-nickel, round nosed, pulled bullets that I'm wanting to reload with but I need advice on how to seat them with the conventional roll crimp. I say this because of how wide the cannelure is and if seating & crimping the normal way would make the OAL too high. So is it alright to crimp it normally or to make 3 little dents in the case neck to secure it like you see with surplus 6.5 Carcano? These are around .265-.266 and most are around 160 gr.
Reloading is a newly spawned hobby to me so forgive me if I may not understand something at first. Thanks

As you mentioned the bullet diameter maybe you're aware of the difference in Carcano bullets. Anyway, most published data is for .264 diameter bullets. If using properly fit bullets start low and work up. Hornady used to manufacture .266 diameter bullets and published data for them.

Nice bullets. Where did you find them?

bought 400 of them about 3 months ago for $100 on milsurps.com

There's some variety of 6.5mm "old school" cup and core soft point, hollow point, and FMJ projectiles available in current production but nothing quite like those vintage milsurp RNFMJ bullets!

Hornady offers both a 6.5mm 160 grain RNSP bullet with .264 diameter (Hornady # 2640)

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/6184

and a 6.5mm 160 grain RNSP bullet with .268 diameter (Hornady # 2645B)

Prvi Partizan offers numerous 6.5mm bullets but only a few appear to be imported to the USA.

there's a 139 grain FMJBT B-605 with .268 diameter

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/29100

there's a 139 grain FMJBT with .263 diameter # B-083

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/12606

a 120 grain HPBT with .264 diameter # B-485

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/3

a 139 grain SPBT with .264 diameter # B-084

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/12607

a 156 grain PSP with .263 diameter # B-114

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/29102

and a 123 grain Spitzer SP with .268 diameter # B-352

https://www.grafs.com/catalog/product/productId/29101

Some rifles prefer .263-.264 diameter, others .267-.268 diameter.
