Would be real nice if true......

I've been watching Brownings site for several months waiting for them to change the claimed weights of a couple of their 2010 models. I haven't recieved an answer from them, can anybody confirm or shoot down these claimed weights?

I see that the first one uses the same pre-Shortrack receiver as my 90's vintage Stalker that weighs well over 7 lbs.

I may be wrong, but since the "lightweight" stalker weighs in at over 7lbs, I'd say its most likely a typo somebody is too lazy to fix.

I imagine it should have been something like 6lb. 11oz. assuming the long action weights are correct...but that may very well be wrong too. dunno.gif

Well I'm already suspicious of the weights that Browning gives for the BARs. The ShortTrac models claim 6lb 10oz and the Longtrac 6lb 15oz. Now I know that these use the same receivers and if anything the ShortTrac should weigh a bit more because they need to block the mag. I figured they might have fudged the numbers because why would anybody purchace a 308 when the 30-06 is the same size and weight... So I went to a gunshop and weighed a 270 Longtrac with the poly stock. It weighed 6lb 13oz, yup, right about where I guessed beforehand.

I own two Browning rifles and I like them both but buyer beware.
