Got her today ! They must be paying attention ? It has no more tail ;than ROA , less in fact. I almost think the grips would fit. Wish they would. It only has a couple of little lines of writing on each side of the barrel , about middle of the rammer. Every thing but the trigger ; is great ! Not the pound pull; but the placement( position) tries to capture trigger finger , goin to neutral! Let off is alright ( saa average) . Wonder if I should alter, or can it be exchanged ? I need more room.

What is an "army police"?

The best I know "army" refers to 44 caliber and "police" on a percussion revolver is a 36,like the navy (no navy doesn't refer to the rammer type see the 1861 navy)

So is this a 44-36? The names these marketing guys come up with

Oops I looked it up its a short barreled 1861 navy so technically a 1861 navy replica with 5" barrel and fluted cylinder

Nice gun even if they futzed the name from somewhere

The revolver that never was!

She shoots great with 3f an 375 RB . Dismal , with 2f ! The trigger geomitey seems crude! I think I'll get a spare and bend it / cut to move it back some. .. It should be called the navy shore patrol. Dreams. ! It's for tree rat hunting. A friend said; He"d have to scope it:scrutiny:

Regardless what Pietta says, it's an 1861 Navy with a 5.5 inch barrel and semi-fluted cylinder. Here's mine.

Nice little revolver pistol! It would make a wonderful companion for my Pietta 1851 Navy Sheriff Model.
It floors me though, seeing it set up for shoulder stock attachment! :)
I guess that is being done by Pietta now with all their 1860 framed guns?

Spring break

Guess I answered my own question by accident ! The pawl spring broke after around 88 shots:mad:went in to fix it; an remembered some parts , I had salvaged about 10 year ago . Sure enough there was a trigger! Looked identical except swept back , an rch or so , chopped about 5/32 off the bottom end exchanged it out . Just right! No more noxious finger grab! Lots more fun to shoot now! Yeah big dog , a shoulder stock might make , knocking the tree rats out easier . And still half the length of a rifle. Make the light little rascal ; aim steadier . They sure are proud of em though!

It is another Pietta fantasy gun. The real 1862 was built using the smaller 1848 frame in .36 with a rebated cylinder like the 1860. Uberti builds a correct reproduction.
