642 Club Part Three

My 642 is getting a little extra love this year. It's 67° outside, not the norm for N. Ohio on Dec. 13.
Normally I would be packing the CZ 75 under a heavy sweeter or jacket, not this year, still pocketing the 642.

New 642 in the house

Just picked up a new 642 for $350.00, which included shipping, from an on-line retailer. This seemed like a helluva deal considering gun sales are at an all-time high. Maybe semi-auto's are more popular right now? The 642 will be for my wife; we've both shot the j-frame before so we're familiar with the pro's and con's. I carry a .44 CA.

I've bought two memberships to the 642 club. Using the Underwood 158gr LSWCHP-GC round. 854fps (advertised)

Ran in to a Freind that didn't like his 642 after shooting only 20 rounds. I showed him a 605 Taurus that has the sweetest action you ever tried. He traded me even up. I already have Two 442s. Don't know what to do, maybe sell it.

Hello...anyone here?

Sold my 442 about a year ago and regretted it. I just got a pretty good deal on a new 642 and I'm pretty happy about it. Great pocket carry.

Traded a Boker Silver Steel straight razor an 20 bucks for a like new 442. The fella went with a Ruger 380 auto, guess he needed a new straight razor more than the 442.

I recently purchased a 642 to become a back up pistol... I already had a Mika pocket holster from the 442 I had a few years ago. Well, since I threw my back out at the gym, the 642 has become my primary. There's no way I'm lugging around my Glock 19 with 2 spare mags until my back gets better. It's not the greatest situation, but it's better than nothing.

I have been carrying a Sig P238 for a few years now and really like it. It's my only CC piece though. After falling in love with some classic S&W's lately, I'm wanting a J-frame. I like the looks of the 442. Can anyone compare carrying the two? My p238 disappears in a mini-tuck but is a little bulky for pocket carry. The shorter grip of the 442 looks like it may be easier to conceal.

Any input?

I have been carrying a 442 in my pocket for so long that if I don't have it in there my pants or shorts feel weird.

tkroenlein,

Those are maple round butt boot grips from Kim Ahrends.

I have a matching pair with finger grooves on an M&P 340.

I have gone through alot of grips, and right now the Ahrends are my personal favorite.

I have really got the bug for a new gun. A 442 looks really good to me. I have a 431PD in 32 mag that is just about the best carry piece I think you can have. Only 15oz. loaded but I sure would like to have a 38 special to go along with it. This is the very best price I have seen on one of the 442 no lock guns.

I prefer the black finish to the stainless. I can touch up the black but not the silver finish. I have done that on the 431pd I have. Plus the black just looks like serious business to me.

New S&W Jframe grips

I just ordered a set of those new J frame grips. They are like the factory boot grips, but are just about 3/4 inch longer ending in a point. Just enough room to get your pinky finger on, and it still fits in a pocket just fine. It makes the 642 much more comfortable with the hotter loads. You can order them from S&W online store.
