A friend my wife works with has a 686-1 M, 4'' with wood medalion grips. She has less then 150 rds through it and bought it new 20 yrs ago. I took her to the range to teach her to shoot her pistol , but when she pulled out a 686 while she stood at only 5'1'' tall with little stubby hands I knew why she could not shoot it. it is in new condition and she asked me to help her sell it so we can find something that fits her. I have seen some used and abused ones selling for 400 to 500. What would an almost new 686-1 go for?

Thanks

Why not see about getting her some grips that might fit her hand better and stick to something like target wadcutters for the low recoil? A smaller gun, while it might fit better will recoil a lot more since there is a lack of metal to soak up recoil. A 686 is a good gun to teach on and if you can get your hands on or load light target ammo, it is the perfect gun for a child or a smaller statured woman. I'd suggest getting her some of the rubber grips like Hogue or Pachmayer makes.

Here's a beautiful one asking $2,300.

A regular one would be in the $400-600 range depending on the place of the country.

She does not want to keep it, I already tried to get her smaller grips and she does not want to go that route. She does not like it and wants something different.

Low end $350, high end depends on how stupid the buyer is. $450 in my hands is tops I would go. In some states/markets the value is higher. Most I see posted online are asking @ $450 shipped.

I saw a beautiful 4" 66 for $350 at the harrisburg show last summer and passed on it. Dumb.............

2006 Standard Catalog of Firemarms says.....

NIB $375 Exec 300. That's a year old and the price of stainless has gone up.

I agree with Dan, around $400 tops. I personally wouldn't pay more than $350 since those are quite common, despite the fact that it is lockless. Nice shooter though for someone who doesn't have a L frame, or wants another because maybe a 586 needs a companion.
