I'm trying to decide which rifle to use for javelina next spring (assuming I get drawn).

So between the 7.62x39 from my romanian ak clone and the 22-250 from my 3-9x scoped M.98 Mauser, which would you choose?
What bullet would you choose (handloaded)?
Why?

Thanks in advance.

If you're going to but up close (less than say 50 yards) I'd go with the AK. I'll be handier for a quick close range shot. If you're going to be sniping, then the 22-250.

In either case, just about any non-varminting bullet should work. In the .224" class that'll almost certainly put into the heavier end of the spectrum.

Which unit did you apply for? I put in for 36C (down by Three Points).

I applied for 18b. It's not too far from home and it's crawling with piggies (but where isn't these days?:) )

I would take the 22-250. The terrain around here sometimes allows for a decently far shot.
