i went to a small gun show this weekend to pass some time, i got 7 molds(2-4 cavities) with handles a set of dies and 1000 cast .30 carbine bullets, two lbs of powder(H-110-H-322) and best of all a like new rem 700 custom deluxe 35 whelen with redfield bases and rings. i had three other 35 whelens, but i did sell one and now i,m back up too three again. i,m good to go with reloading supplies for it. the recoil pad is toast and will be replaced

That is a very nice rifle.
I would be hard pressed to walk past it.

Sweet, that’s one nice rifle!

I agree, that would be caught me like a fish hook, I don’t think I could’ve gotten too far after seeing if either. :)

Let us know how it shoots when you scope it and get it to the range.

Stay safe.

Remington made a BUNCH of those in 35 Whelen a few years ago, but for just one year. For a while I would see 2-3 at every gun show. The supply seems to leveled off, I haven't seen one in a while. Ruger did the same, at about the same time, there were a bunch of the Ruger All Weather guns in 35 Whelen. I bought one of the Rugers, but didn't keep it long.

Good for most anything in North America with proper bullets. The Remington action is sometimes belittled for being 'push feed' but it is easier to use when single loading and matters not a whit if the operator remembers to draw the bolt open FULLY and then fully close the bolt. (Rounds only form a 'double feed' when the bolt is not completely withdrawn.) I have a couple Remington 700s and do not think of either as difficult or temperamental.

I like the caliber (have a sporterized 1917 action in that caliber). I recall the recoil being a bit more enthusiastic than .30-06, but not unbearably so. And, come to think of it, it is a heavy rifle. Has full and 1940s era sporting stock.

i have cast bullets that i will try, they were made for the 35 remington and they will work if i keep the speed in the 1800-1900 fps range.

I traded my 35 Classic short barrel gun for an unfired 6.5x55 Classic. Wanted to replace the 35 with a longer barrel 700 one day.

So I ordered a SS 1-14 twist 358 barrel blank on Saturday. I have an old 700 BDL 30-06 LA donar to square, true and turn .010 over. I will put a Jarad single set in it. I will turn the barrel for the build, plan on a 24” with a .650 muzzle. On Sunday, I found my 100 round box of loaded cartridges.
We built a new house two years ago and I am still searching for and finding things. I will run a nice piece of wood on my duplicator for the 35. I will decide on the wood species when I get close to finishing the metal work.

i like the 225 gr bullets in the 35 whelen, i have quite a few of the rem classic,s and one of them is a nib 6.5x55, and i have a cz 550 in 6.5x55 that i shoot.

I had a 700 BDL in .22-.250 with a 12x Nikon scope I was a fool to sell. Hope you have great times with yours.

Great score! Beautiful shape!

That's a great caliber, very versatile. I have a Ruger 77, tang safety in .350, which as you know is the "same difference" ballistically as a 35 Whelen. You can load them up to roll a Grizz, or way down to like 35 Remington for tiny little white tailed deer. Or baby Unicorns. Or shoot pistol bullets at coyote.

I have a box of the original Barnes 300 grain bullet with the pure copper jacket. If I ever get a free trip to Alaska to hunt Grizz....I'm ready!! Does anyone make a mold for a .358" gas-checked 300 grain bullet? That would be a thumper.

Mine was originally a 6.5 Rem Mag, but has been re-barreled to .350 with an E.R.Shaw barrel. It's very accurate. The Whelen is supposed to be capable of very good accuracy.

Man, I've looked at every gun show that's rolled into town for a nice 35 Whelen bolt gun. Not a darn thing.... ever. Be a neat cartridge to handload for I always thought.

i have a custom van patton 98 mauser in 35 whelen and a ruger #1 in 35 whelen, i sold a rem 7600 pump in 35 whelen to a friend.

Very nice , that was a good snag . 35 Whelen is one of my favorites . Congratulations .
