I have loaded, tested, and shot several 75 grain Hornady bthp match loads with 24 grains of Varget. Shot this weekend from 300 yards at 6" and 8" plates, thru my 223 Wylde Odin works three gun barrel build with great results. (almost boring). Of course I ladder loaded and tested, very little sign of pressure (slightly flattened primers) no ejector marks, bulges, splits etc. About 2700 fps with an SD of 14. I have read on other forums that this seems to be a popular load with Varget, anyone else have any success with this load and bullet or other loads? Next step will be to test moa at that range.

24.0 Varget with 70-something match bullets certainly is a classic load. I've only been shooting 69's with 24.5 the last couple of years. When I did load 77 SMK's I used Varget with a couple of tenths over 24.0. I've been telling myself I am going to drop down to 24.0 if (when) I ever load 77 or 75's again.

I've had pretty good luck with the 75 gr Hornady's over 25 gr of Varget and maybe even a little better over 25 gr of CFE223. Pushing them out to 750 yards on good days. AR15 18" barrel.

Wish I had a place to try 750, can go to 300 on my place and that's it. Really liking this Wylde barrel.

Have good consistent groups with the Hornady 75 W 23.7 H-4895 R/P case / Fed. AR SRP and 22.5 AR Comp W/ R/P case and Fed. AR SRP. Out of a Rainier 18" SPR Super Match. Both loads shoot well with a Remington 7.5, just a bit better with the Federal AR primer. Tried 24.0 of Varget and didn't shoot as well.

My best load for the 75BTHP is 23.0 gr of Varget. A near second best load is 23.2 gr IMR 8208XBR. A close third best is 23.8 gr CFE223. All of these are noticeably more accurate than Federal Gold Medal Match ammo with the Sierra 77MK bullet.

My go to 223 load is 77 nosler cc over 23.6gr tac in reworked lc brass. Very very accurate in my 1-8 white oak upper

Just looked at my notes, my load is 24.1gn Varget behind Hornady bthp which gave me 2709fps and SD of 8.4, less than 0.7" @ 100. Shot from my 20" Wylde AR. My accuracy node was pretty wide, from 23.6 to 24.2gn.

@Offfhand , I have not shot 55gn farther than 100 yet, but my most accurate load out of my rifle is with the Hornady 55SP, I've gotten down to 0.5" @100. The 55 FMJBT I have tried have not been nearly as accurate, but I have not done a whole lot of work with them yet.
