Yep, that's what I saw today at a militaria and collectable show I went to.
That's about $500 USD.
What makes it worse is that the rifle was what we call "deactivated" -- totally and permanently inoperative, everything except the bolt welded and the barrel irreversibly filled. In other words, just a wall hanger.
SMLE .303's in the same condition were $350. Replica (non-firing) Owen guns were $550. A naval officer's sword was $1950. A (non-firing) 3-inch mortar was $4000
There was also an Oerlikon 20mm on trailer with all the bits 'n' pieces, fully restored (but deactivated, of course), open to offers around $15 000.
Inert and drilled (through the case) 5.56 "rounds" were $1 each!
Nearly bought an American K-Bar knife for $25 -- but it looked like it had had a hard life so I abstained.
Really nice "Ferret" scout car in the forecourt, fully reconditioned and in running order, plus a road-registered Dodge weapons carrier and WWII Harley.
Interesting way to spend an hour or so.
