We had a night shoot last night and so we took out the 8" and 12" guns to see what they would do. It is about the only time we get to shoot anymore.
So we take this mixed bag of rounds, a big box actually that we have accumulated over the years and tested just about everything we could we could put thru them. They both cycled everything we could put thru them from 2 3/4 light game loads to 3" mags.
We did find out however a few things.
1- 3" mags kick like a bastard and give really bad trigger slap. They also throw a really big fireball.
2- The light recoil stuff like the LE reduced recoil slugs and buck work the best.
3- Light game loads get ejected really well for the size of the bbl and gas system, but they do to be lubed well to get them to fuction 100%.
We did also find out some bad things.
If you have 16ga rounds in the box of mixed loads and load them in the magazine, they will fit. They will also chamber and fire. It is like a hand grenade going off in your face. But it will extract and continue to work. But if there are two back to back, the 16ga round can be slammed forward into the bbl and get lodged there. Luckily it was the last shot of the stage and I did not continue to shoot. I only realized there was an obstruction when I could not get the chamber flag in.
Moral of the story is check all of your ammo before going out and make sure you have the right ammo. You can not feel the difference in the dark. If I had fired annother round, the results would have been seriously catastrophic.
