Any body ever use 6mm 80 grain flat base bullets at 600 yards? I have a slow twist 6 BR to play with figure the biggest bullet I can shoot is going to be about 80 grains. I'm sure it will work great for short range stuff, 100-300. I hope it would do ok at longer ranges too.

95-105's seem to be the most popular choice, so I can't find much on useing lighter bullets at that kind of range. The BC is only about .306 on the 80's.

The Barrel is a 1-12 twist.

The few people I know shooting 223 at 600 like 77-90 gr. VLD's. That have a better BC than a 80 gr. 6mm bullet.

I'm sure it will get there, and be accurate, on a calm day. If it's windy it's going to be tough to shoot well. I hope someone else out there has tried it and would share there results.

Racin,
Try the Sierra 85gr HPBT, or the Hornady 87 VMax. I'm shooting a 6-Dasher with the 87's, but my twist is a 1-10. My 243, however is a 1-12 and absolutely loves the 85gr Sierra without pushing it very hard. Unless you have a short barrel, you should be able to get sufficient velocities out of your 6BR to run the Sierra. I'd match it up with Reloader 15 and CCI 450 primers.

Another option I've bought but never tried is the Nostler 80 gr in the Ballistic Tip.

FWIW
