I have a 870 trap shot gun, it has a target barrel on it, vent rib 30 inch bbl. My question what chokes can i put in this. It has a removable extra full trap choke in it. I seen full trap chokes (have heard these are for special 1100 backbored barrels???), and trap full chokes. I was wondering what ones i can put into my 870.

I was considering aftermarket chokes for this also. (carlsons, hastings,ECT what do you recommend. I shoot trap and have been doing well with my wingmaster magnum with straight full choke 30 inch barrel.

I just dont want to have the wrong choke tube in my gun, as the more i read here and there i dont really see what i can put in my trap shotgun.

thanks everyone for the help.

Remington has often had over bore barrels on their trap guns. The TB I had went .732", IIRC, and had a fixed full choke of 39 POC.

Once they got into the overbore and choke tubes thing, there were some barrels with .745" bores and "Specially Marked" choke tubes that gave usable patterns in that bore.

The one that was for trap singles would have been a Cylinder choke in a standard '729 bore. The Mid Handicap would have been an IC and the long yardage choke a Mod.

Truly, best to measure the bore and proceed accordingly.

i will have my brother measure the bore or i know a guy that is also a gunsmith that knows remingtons pretty well measure it and ill get back to you thank you for your help.
