Found a Very Nice 12 Gauge SKB XL 900 Semi Auto Trap Model on Gun Broker. I was able to win it for 355.00. Of course the added fees and shipping cost run it up more, but I still consider it a bargain. Makes my 3rd xl 900. First one I bought New back in 1980ish. .It Was a MR model which stands for Magnum Receiver. Sent that barrel to Briley to have it threaded and choke tubes. Also Have a Skeet Barrel, Slug barrel, and 30 inch full choked 3inch mag barrel for that one. This has been my Primary shotgun Since I Bought it. Shoot Trap, Skeet, as well as hunt with it. Own a 20 Gauge SKB/Ithaca XL 900 which also has been Choked by Briley. Have a slug barrel for that one too.
Though I have had a few 25 games of Trap with the 12 gauge Field Model I have always wanted a trap version. Attempts to make it into a trap gun were elusive. I tried a Monte Carlo stock which did not work out very well at all with the stock field barrel or the 30 inch full choked barrel. Efforts to find a trap barrel were frustrating to say the least. FINALY I seen one on Gun Broker.
Monte Carlo Stock, 30 inch full choked, High Combed Vented Rib. Yes the Shotgun Gods had sent one my way. I bid Way High because I was determined to win it. Finally got it to the trap range couple days ago. As soon as I shouldered the gun I went AAHHHH. It just felt Right. First Target out of the house Shattered. Man that felt Good. Wish I could say that I Ran a Perfect score but that would not be true. The main thing was it was obvious that this is a Real Trap Gun. It fit me GREAT. and Shot better than I do. It also Functioned perfectly. To Say I am a Happy Camper Would be an Understatement.
