It sounds like the 1980's Romanian surplus that has been going around.
Dark green-ish gray casings and 150 grain projectile?
It's not terribly accurate, but it seems to go bang 100% of the time.
It is also steel core, which limits where you can shoot it and makes it nice to have around the house.

It does sound like the Romanian stuff that's been floating around. If the headstamp has 22 (indicating Romania as the source) and then a number probably in the 70-80s (two-digits representing the year), it's the Romanian stuff and is corrosive. I've found it to be very accurate in my Yugo M24/47 (it seems the various Mauser each have their favorite diet). It is indeed steel core (150gr)...some places were trying to market it as AP, which I don't think is accurate but it is hard hitting. Just be sure to clean the rifle after use. The going price for a 340rd tin is around $90-100.

Yes it's Romanian, good ammo.
No, the corrosive property is the salt compound left in your bore after firing. It collects and traps moisture that does the corroding. If you clean all the inner bits soon after firing with a water-based cleaner (or water), you should be dissolving and removing the salt compounds and negating the corrosive effect. Make sure you then clean and oil as usual.

"...wouldn't corrosive eat..." Nope. The corrosive part is the salts in the priming compound. Doesn't do anything until you hit it.
"...it's Romanian..." Yep. Literally Plant 22. The address and actual name is unknown.
