8mm Mauser and AA8700, Is this a good idea or am I trying to blow myself up?

I want to get an opinion on this before I try anything. I was looking at some of surplus gunpowder one can buy online. I was looking here and thought of something. Would the super slow powder that uses AA8700 loading data work in a 8mm Mauser using a heavy 220 grain SP bullet. Then put that round in a 29" barrel of a Turkish Mauser. Would I have a good heavy bullet moving at reasonable velocity (Hoping to get around 2400+ fps) or would I have a dud. I was hoping that using the long 29" barrel I could take advantage of the slow burn rate and still maintain safe pressure (98 actions are strong, but I don't want to make it into a pipe bomb.) The Lee reloading manual gives some loads using AA8700 data, but his loads are very low pressure (Cause US makers are afraid of the loads being used in an 1888 .318 gun.) His loading data resulted in pressures that are far lower than a 98 action can take. I also don't know the barrel length he used. Anyone have help on that. Again, I am just checking to see if anyone has any experience with this. To me this seems like a good idea, please correct me if I am not.

/PS anyone know any other good places to buy surplus gunpowder.

i doubt you'd be able to get enough powder in the case to get pressures high enough to blow yourself up. i also would reccomend looking for a different powder.

you can give it a shot - but i think your velocities would be disappointing. in 8 mauser, my best loads utilized h-380, but if you need more, something like h-4350 or varget may work about right.

If you are looking to buy surplus powder you chose the right place, Jeff is top notch. You would be wise to buy a faster buring powder though, something like BLC-(2) for the 8x57 I do not remember the WCXXX equivlent. On using the WCXXX type powders keep in mind that you MUST use the starting data as while it will be close to the commercial counter-part it is not exact.
