Well, Now that I own an Egyptian Hakim ;) it looks like I need
to figure out the how's n what's of reloading the 8mm Mauser
round!

Been a LONG time since I have done 'any' reloading and would
appreciate any help/guidance that anyone would care to provide.
Looking at/for dies, casing and what-nots.. Cast bullet are not
out of the realm of possibility, since I'm normally a BP kinda guy
I have thrown my share of round ball and cast slugs..

Thanks for any help you care to offer!

Welcome back to reloading and here.
It's the same as it ever was.. all you need are the components, the hardware and the software/knowledge to put any round together..
It's all here and elsewhere would you care to take the time to look.

Thanks,

I have Been looking around the web and researching through my old books and stuff.. Just figr'd there were some 'experienced' hands, that had or were reloading for it,,, that could give me specific hints or tips pretaining to the cartridge??

If you want to toss some cast lead through that 8mm, I'd suggest castboolits.com. They really focus on casting and shooting cast bullets through anything. Search a bit first there too though!

Stick with jacketed bullets...

...they will be kinder to your gas port...and "vicey-versey," as they say.

Sierras are always great, but you might be able to get some inexpensive military FMJ, ditch the cases and go with modern powder and primers.

I always had good luck with IMR 4320.

The guy that owned the Cheap Scope Page website in the 1990s is now casting 8mm bullets, does a good job, and gets good groups.

He does everything right.
I don't.
When I bought expensive cast 8mm bullets with gas checks, I did not get good groups.

But some things are easy enough for me, like forging over a bolt handle, drilling and tapping for a scope, loading jacketed bullets, and driving to the range.

I bought a 1903 Turkish Mauser from BIG5 for $50.
When someone died I got a few coffee cans of Sierra 8mm bullets.
I went to the range in 2004.
From my notes:

I put on my test scope: 6.5x20x40 boosted to 13x40x40 with high Grand Slam rings and bore sighted it to within 1.5" at 50 m.
Win 8x57 brass, WLR primers, seated with RCBS, 47 gr. IMR4895 bulk all loads were seated so long that unfired extraction resulted in spilled powder:
n) 200 gr. Sierra Match King, new brass, 3.625" with Sinclair 30 cal nut, 1" 5 shot group at 100m [first 4 shots were 1/2" and I made the whole range stay hot to wait for my 5 th. shot], flattened primers
2618, 2633, 2649, 2623, 2650, 2626, 2638 fps
