8mm Remington Mag (any good)?

As fine a cartridge as any other but bullet selection is poor and not getting any better, so I would not invest in one for that reason. I’m not really interested in cartridges, I’m only interested in bullets. I pick bullets and then choose a cartridge to propel it, not the other way around.

no , but a wildacat 8mm Mag to 9.3 mm with the usual tough 286 grain bullets would be in places that it would be legal for dangerous game. I think 3000 fps or close would be attainable with the 286 9.3 bullet.
Bring back heavy recoiling power house guns! LOVE IT

BULLET 1st! 🫡 ! respect

Shaw can do a stainless barrel for 330 if you don't flute it (i did configure muzzle threads for brake or suppressor for an extra $30, and deep chamber for $40 just to get to the medium top end of price spectrum)...
dang! just send in the Action! this is a GREAT idea

you can do that?
Yup, as long as you stay with the cartridge family usually you dont have to do any action work besides pulling the old barrel and installing the new.
I dont like nutted barrels so i usually have to ream the chamber to depth also.
If your ok with nutted barrels then its even easier (tho usually requires stock inletting). Spin the tube on set headspace and lock the nut down.

Ive had Shaw do a full rebarrel on two rifles, both came out very nicely. They also offer savage 110 clones, and a higher end gun now, in their rifles lines. Those are semi customs running about 1k-1500 then 2kish. Ive been tempted a couple times as i can get them cheaper than most of the other mid level production rifles i like.......
But i like "building" stuff so havent tried one.
