I have a Model 1938 Turkish Mauser I have been refinishing and sportorizing. I am now to the optics and need some suggestions. I have seen the whole scout setup. My question about this: can I drill and tap myself? If so what tools/machinery are required? Is this even worth it if I use a 2x7?

The second sight setup I am considering is a mojo sight (http://www.mojosights.com/). These look pretty solid but I have no experience with them. Anyone know anything about or use something like this in the past? I am looking to get a 100 yard shot out of this setup so I think either may work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Pros/Cons? I am not worried about collector value, just a powerful deer slayer.

Thanks

A couple of places sell a scout base that attaches to the rear sight base. I have done 2 Mausers that way and they work OK. I don't really like the scout concept so my opinion is not likely to be fair. One of mine uses a 30mm pistol scope and the other uses a reddot. The 3X pistol scope setup was good enough to consistently hit oil filters at 150+ yards.
