Choctaw Defense is a military contractor based in McAlester, Oklahoma, that is owned by the Choctaw Nation. Their primary products are potable water trailers, all terrain truck trailers, the Joint Standoff Weapon and 40mm ammunition components. They recently got a contract to manufacture components for small arms.
Since hollow point bullets are not allowed on the battlefield per the Hauge Convention, this suggests Choctaw Defense has branched into sporting ammunition. Since they have been making mil-spec stuff, their products are probably serviceable. I would, however, buy, load and test a batch to see how they perform before I bet my life on them.
Just as an aside, I very proudly say I have been reloading nearly 40 years (with a couple of decade hiatus) and in that time I have bought less than 300 rounds of ammunition. From that, a few rounds were used to provide a baseline for setting up my dies, the rest are still languishing in their boxes. I loaded and shot more than 500 rounds of .223 Remington before I confident enough in it to use my reloads for self-defense. Similarly, it was nearly 200 rounds of .45 ACP before I had a load that I was willing to bet my life on. And even after more than 100 rounds with different bullets and different powders, I still use Glaser Safety Slugs in my .38 Special and .25 ACP pistols.
